Social Story: Cyclone Fina
A cyclone called Fina might come soon.
Cyclones are big storms with strong wind and rain. Sometimes they feel loud or look scary, but the adults around me know what to do.
Cyclone Fina might reach Category 2.
Category 2 means the wind will be very strong. Trees might bend, and things outside might move around.
Inside the house we stay safe because it is strong and protected.
The wind might sound loud.
If the noise feels too much, I can use my noise-cancelling headphones.
Headphones help the world feel quieter and calmer.
My family has a plan.
They know where to go in the house.
They make sure the doors and windows are shut tight.
They pack things we need—water, snacks, chargers, and a torch.
They check that pets are inside too.
During the cyclone, I will stay indoors.
I can sit in a safe room with my family.
I can bring my favourite toys, my iPad, books, or something soft to hold.
It’s okay to feel worried or unsure.
The storm will pass.
The adults will keep me safe the whole time.
When the cyclone is finished, life goes back to normal.
We can go outside again when it’s safe.
The noise stops, and the world feels calm.
I am safe. My family is safe. We know what to do.
