What should you look for in a Behaviour Support Supervisor?

It’s about more than ticking boxes or getting signed off.

Good supervision shapes not only your skills, but your values and your practice — and ultimately the lives of the people you support.

The most effective supervisors bring both knowledge and human qualities to the relationship:

✔️ deep understanding of behaviour support

✔️ commitment to human rights and dignity

✔️ space to reflect, question, and grow

✔️ clear communication and guidance

✔️ focus on your development, not just the paperwork

We’ve created this simple graphic to highlight qualities we believe matter most — and what we aim to bring to every supervision relationship at Launch.

If you’ve had a great supervisor (or are looking for one), what qualities made the biggest difference for you?

We’ve just launched Restrictive Practices and Me, a collection of resources that support meaningful conversations with participants about restrictive practices.

The resources include discussion books in Easy Read and Plain English formats. They can be used to explain restrictive practices in an easy to understand way.

Restrictive Practices and Me was created in collaboration with people with disability, providers, state and territory governments, and the Council for Intellectual Disability.

The Annual Pricing Review 2024-25 has been released.

We have introduced pricing changes to ensure participants are not charged more than any other Australian for their supports.

Data has confirmed that people with disability have been paying ‘NDIS premiums’ for certain therapies, while those same services are being delivered broadly to other Australians at lower rates.

We’re gradually introducing shorter funding periods in participants' plans to help participants more easily manage their budgets.

If you’re starting a new NDIS plan or going through a reassessment, you will now have a discussion about funding periods in your plan.

The length of funding period will be based on participant’s individual circumstances and will usually be a three-month funding period.

You might be asking, but what if my needs suddenly change?

It may be a change in what you can or can’t do because of your disability, a change in your informal supports, or your life has changed in a significant way.

You can request a plan reassessment at any time.

Let us know as soon as possible if your circumstances change. You will need to provide to provide evidence and information about what has changed.

While all NDIS plans are built to last the length of the plan, we know support needs can fluctuate.

It’s also important to know any unspent funds in one period are rolled over to the next as funding periods do not change the total value of a plan.
