✨ Shout-out to Kiah ~ Student Midwife ✨

I have the privilege of working with incredible students, and Kiah has been such a joy to witness. Walking alongside her friend and colleague Ilona through pregnancy, to postpartum and beyond ~ home visits to meeting family, sharing stories, laughter, and offering her own insights ~ she has reminded me of the heart and courage that shapes the future of midwifery. ✨💚

Life is an ongoing learning journey, and having Kiah accompany me in care appointments has been a gift ~ not just for the women she supports, but for me too. Inviting a student into my practice creates ripples of care, learning, and connection, and strengthens the impact we can make ~ one woman, one family, one generation.

Meeting Kiah has shown me why mentorship and presence matter so much in midwifery.
🌿

Here’s to the next generation of midwives ~ curious, compassionate, and full of heart. 💓

♥️ Thank you both so much for allowing me to witness and be part of this beautiful journey. .lefevre_ ♥️

✨ It’s all about the relationship ✨

The unknown can be paralysing at times…
That’s when her support remind her …
You are powerful.
You can do hard things.
You have this.
You are doing this.
You are amazing!

Simple words, powerful meaning in the moment from a trusted companion.
That trust is built over time ~ in slow, unhurried pregnancy care appointments in the home, where stories are shared, and connection grows.

Because when she feels deeply supported and truly seen,
she can meet whatever unfolds with courage, clarity, and grace. 🌿

Thank you Ilona, .lefevre_ for trusting me to walk beside you, Jock, Olive, and baby Percy on the journey of your second homebirth. What an honour and joy it is to witness your family’s strength, love, and connection. ♥️🫶🏼

🌿 Reclaiming Breech Skills 🌿

Breech is something we don’t see often, yet it can happen anywhere, at any time, and for any woman in labour and birth. That’s why continued learning and hands-on practice are so important to me.

I had the pleasure of attending first Breech Training Day in Maroochydore, hosted by Coast Life Midwifery. 🙏🏽

It was a fabulous day of learning, reclaiming breech skills, sharing our stories, and learning together as colleagues (which is always so much more fun!). 🥳

I highly recommend this workshop ~ it caters to all learning styles and includes fantastic resources to take home, from current research to hands-on practice with the manikins “Sophie” (baby) and “Mumma Sally.” 🥰

I’ve also loved the Breech Without Borders online study ~ it’s so comprehensive, and Combined with regular in-person, practical workshops ~ my knowledge and hands on skills are continuing. It’s all about building confidence in breech manoeuvres, should they be needed to support the woman and baby.

Repetition, repetition, repetition… that’s how we build confidence.
I use a pelvis model and baby doll at home to keep these manoeuvres fresh in my hands. Around 30% of babies presenting breech in labour and birth may require assistance, so maintaining these skills matters deeply.

Breech births remind us why continued learning matters.
Such a powerful day of hands-on practice and shared wisdom! 🙌🏽

I’m so grateful Sasha is in my area and will be running annual workshops. If you’re keen to maintain and upskill, reach out to her to host a workshop in your area or hospital.

She births her placenta … ♥️

This incredible, temporary organ quietly sustained her baby’s every moment in her womb. ♥️

Come along and witness the birth of this amazing organ.
👉 Swipe to honour its story. 🌿

The birth isn’t truly over when your baby is born.
The placenta is a vital chapter in the sacred birth journey.

Supporting its birth is about slowing down… allowing warmth, safety, and space for the mother’s body to finish its work.

There’s no need to rush.
No tugging or hurrying.
Just presence, patience, and reverence.

When left undisturbed, the body knows.
The placenta releases in its own time, guided by physiological signs, and the birthing woman’s unique rhythm.

Sometimes, divergences occur.
Complications can arise, and we respond with care and wisdom, always keeping the woman at the centre of her experience.

Every birth is different, and every story deserves respect.

After birth, I take precious time with families to explore and marvel at this incredible organ, the tree of life itself, before deciding how they wish to honour it.

Some plant it beneath a tree 🌳
Some eat it, having small chunks in a smoothie or a meal ♥️
Some create remedies, tinctures, or cord keepsakes 🌿
Some honour its fullness through Lotus Birth 🌸 (more on that another time)

However it’s celebrated, this moment deserves quiet honour and awe.
It’s the final unfolding of the birthing journey, and a reminder to remain curious to the magic of birth.

My new blog post is gestating beautifully… patience is a virtue when birthing babies, placentas, and blogs alike 😉

Part 1 ~ My Support Crew 🌿💛

Behind every midwife is a village ~ here’s mine.

Behind all my midwifery work is this guy, and my family. 💛

Meet Rob, my life partner and the steady hand, warm laugh, and quiet strength behind so much of what I do.

Midwifery asks for my heart and soul, and it also asks for balance. My family are the ones who hold me, so I can hold others. They understand how deeply I love supporting women and families, and they make space for me to offer the very best quality of private midwifery care.

From food on the table, to a quiet home when I need to rest after a long birth night (no small feat in our little home 🤣), to knowing where my equipment lives and how the car is packed ~ they are my birth support team in every way.

We’ve shared many moments of me heading out the door at all hours, and yes, I’ve missed family events here and there. But they’ve never wavered. They are the glue that holds it all together. The steady heartbeat behind my work.

And amidst it all, we share adventures and good simple living.🌿
From board games to archery, food growing, cutting trees, and soaking up the simple joys of life ~ and we love a good poker game! We savour the moments that remind us what really matters. We get through the challenges together, taking life’s curve balls as a family, and always finding our way back to connection (and a good meal!).

Having a strong support crew behind you is foundational and so valuable, in midwifery, and in life. I’m endlessly grateful for mine. I give midwifery my whole heart and passion, and it’s their love that makes it all possible.

These two photos say it all ~ here we are at the Love Tree, a spot that always brings joy, and then Rob in the garden ~ his happy place, and the heart of so much of our family life.

Love you forever Rob, thank you for being my anchor, my joy, and my quiet strength. 💛

Curiosity, Creativity, Connection ... 🌱September Gathering 🌼

Women’s Gathering ... Monday 22nd September

I have walked beside women and families in continuity of midwifery care for 26 years, across Australia and New Zealand. Since 2019, I’ve been gathering in circle with women and families I’ve supported through their childbearing journeys in beautiful locations across the Sunshine Coast.

💫These gatherings represent the why I do what I do.
My lived experience of pregnancy, birth, and mothering taught me that what keeps us whole is connection, leaning into our community, our neighbours, walking alongside others on the path, and sharing the stories that hold us steady.

This month at Fairhill Gardens, we’ll explore creativity ... what it means for you as a unique being, how you bring creativity into your life, and how you lean into it through childbearing and mothering.

These circles focus on connection, listening to each other’s stories, and leaning into the wisdom that comes from life experience. We are all connected, and our stories are so powerful to share.

These circles are open to everyone ...
🌿 Women, Midwives, Birthworkers
🌿 Mothers, grandmothers, aunties
🌿 Partners, children, babes in arms
🌿 Community members curious about birth & life’s cycles

Creativity is our diversity ... It strengthens our community
Come share your story. Come as you are.

😊When: Monday 22nd September 2025
Time: 9:30 to 11:30am
Where: Fairhill Gardens, 114 Fairhill Rd, Ninderry

✨ Children are most welcome! Fun to feed the hens or explore the fairy walk!
✨ Bring a friend or neighbour
✨ Bring a craft project if you wish ...

💚 Bring your open heart

I look forward to sharing with you!
