A groovy afternoon at Catalina!

What a fantastic afternoon we had at Kimberlee Sings Vintage! Residents, family and friends stepped back in time with a fun-filled performance by The KSV Band, bringing the best of the 60’s and 70’s right to Catalina.

There were plenty of laughs, great tunes and some impressive dance moves with everyone getting into the spirit and showing off their retro style.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, dressed up and made the day such a colourful celebration of music, community and connection.

Lunch outing at Holmesville Hotel!

Good food, great company and plenty of laughs! Our residents recently enjoyed a casual lunch outing to the rustic Holmesville Hotel, a local favourite full of charm and character.

A big thank you to Robert for organising the day and to Steve H. for driving the bus. It’s always lovely to see everyone catching up over a hearty meal and sharing stories together.

We’re already looking forward to the next outing to The Doylo, another great spot for good food and wonderful company!

The thought of moving can feel big, not just logistically but emotionally too. For many of our residents, it started with a quiet question: “What would life look like if things were easier?”.

That question often leads to something unexpected - freedom. Fewer chores, more time for family and the comfort of knowing support is close when needed. Downsizing isn’t about giving things up; it’s about gaining peace of mind, connection and days that feel fuller, not busier.

Sometimes the biggest changes start with a small step. If you’ve been considering your next chapter, maybe it’s time to start the conversation. A tour, a coffee or a chat - it might be all it takes to see how much lighter life can feel.

By mid-morning on game day, the green is already alive with friendly banter, a bit of light-hearted rivalry and the familiar clack of bowls rolling into play.

It’s a scene that’s as much about camaraderie as competition, where strategy meets laughter and every good shot earns a cheer from the sidelines.

Whether it’s the weekly roll-up or an event like Streets of Origin, these matches bring out the best in everyone. This season’s champions, Team Dakota (Anne Fitzgerald, John Niddrie and Chris Parker) took home the trophy but every participant brought the same spirit of sportsmanship and community that makes Catalina special.

For many, it’s less about the score and more about the shared moments, the friendly teasing, the teamwork and the stories swapped over coffee once the games are done.

'There’s a new friendly face around the village!

'Gemma Bodley has joined our team as Health and Wellbeing Coordinator, supporting residents to feel their best - physically, socially and emotionally.

With a strong background in education, disability and assisted living, Gemma brings extensive experience from her previous roles managing retirement villages in the local area.

Having worked closely with residents across a range of wellbeing and supported-living needs, she understands the importance of personalised care, connection and independence.

As a long-time Morisset local and proud mum of three, Gemma brings warmth, energy and genuine understanding to her role. Working alongside trusted providers like BaptistCare, she’ll focus on simple and meaningful ways to help residents feel active, connected and supported every day.

We’re so pleased to have her on board! Be sure to say hello when you see her around the village.’

Recently our residents took part in an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training session with the incredible doctors from Hunter Heart Safe (Sean, Mike, Mark and Corinne), an organisation dedicated to helping communities learn lifesaving skills.

Around 60 residents joined in to learn how to use a defibrillator and perform CPR with confidence. The hands-on session covered practical techniques and reminders that could one day make all the difference.

The training delivered a powerful message that safety isn’t just about equipment - it’s about people looking out for one another. Knowing how to respond in an emergency gives everyone greater confidence and peace of mind, both in the village and beyond.

We’re so proud of our residents for taking part and embracing the importance of preparedness, compassion and community care.

There’s something quietly special about the first light of day. The gardens are still, the kettle’s on and a few early risers wander the paths before breakfast. It’s a time for slow starts and small conversations, checking on the roses, sharing a weather tip or simply taking in the calm before the laughter of the day begins.

For many residents these morning rituals have become a favourite rhythm, gentle, unhurried and quietly full of connection. Some meet for a stroll, others read on their verandas or join a stretch class in the community centre.

However the morning unfolds, it’s these simple, familiar moments that remind us what it means to feel truly at home.

How do you like to spend your mornings?
