Back in the Valley and ready to go.
Compassion and Thanks
Thanks for your understanding around the tragic death of our friend Jack Watt. Our hearts were broken. Our deepest wishes for the healing for Jacks family.
I was deeply moved by the community of Greenethorpe and the way it responded and gathered together to support our dear friends Lyn and Graham and their family. The love, the check ins, the food the flowers the cups of tea. Sometimes it’s just the small things that make the biggest difference. A small community full of small thoughtful things make up one great big beating heart.

Classes Start again Week April 23rd
Im ready to jump back in the yoga pond, or maybe it’s starting to be an ice bath this time of year as the nights cool down. By the way, if any of you would like to partake in an ice bath don’t be afraid to give me a call!!!

Out of Towners.
I’m planning to do a term in three different places. Wyangala, Greenethorpe and Grenfell.
I’m wishing to reduce the amount of nights that I’m away by setting up shorter terms in these villages to cut down on travel and time etc.

I’ll be getting in contact with these groups to nut out times and dates and will keep you posted via this exciting, in-depth and edifying newsletter.

Myofascial Body Work
While in Adelaide I was treated to a Myofascial bodywork (ATSI). “Myofascial bodywork is a form of body work that focuses in identifying movement or postural patterns that may be the root cause of pain or ongoing tension.” It is a cousin of Bowen Therapy so to speak. The slow moving heavy pressure technique was quite a revelation in its effectiveness and after one week my back and body still feels amazing. I can’t recommend this highly enough. If you’re in Adelaide check out Muscle Sense in Norwood. Be warned they are booked out at least three months in advance. I have not researched this in NSW yet, but will provide links when I have.

A Challenging Fortnight.

A fortnight ago I was set to go to S.A to visit my son, grandson and daughter in law. Plans change especially when people close to you suffer. This suffering came in the form or my friends eldest son being killed in a car crash. Helen and I have spent the intervening week in support our friends.

On Wednesday we are heading to S.A to visit family and the studio will be closed for classes for a fortnight.

I know from experience that this stop start approach to running a yoga studio is frustrating but please bear with me. I’ll be sending out an email and phone calls when I can get back into the swing of teaching.

Looking out for each other is part of what makes a community tick. Love and support are critical for us.

Margaret Mead the great anthropologist described an ancient femur that had apparently been broken and healed up many many thousands of years ago. She concluded that the individual that received the injury must have received care from a group to survive the broken leg and have it heal up so well. She stated that this care was a mark of civilisation.
Its not the latest gadget or technological advance that makes us human, it is our care for one another that keeps our society cohesive.

Stay well Nameste to you all. Ken

This week we are having classes today Tuesday 12 March and also Wednesday morning 13 March.
This is the second last series of classes for the month as I’m off to South Australia for a few weeks.

HOT
It’s staying hot as you might of noticed, and I haven’t had the chance to break out my jumper yet. Ok, last week, for one morning I pulled on my hoody and zipped up the front and got very excited that the season had changed, wrote a newsletter re change of season then spent the rest of the week sweating like an iceberg lettuce in a plastic bag in the sun.

The only prediction now from a lot of forecasters is that unpredictability will become the norm.

“Little grasshopper, expect the unexpected”
“Little grasshopper, expect the unexpected” this line is stolen line from Kung Fu the tV series from the 1970’s staring David Caradine, You have a birthdate that lines up with that decade and remember the cowboy Chinese kung fu monk travelling the wild west.

It’s a great motto for our time and climate. With the level of CO2 literally soaring in our atmosphere researchers say that that when the levels hit 400 PPM the modelling becomes unstable and unpredictability reins. This information was passed on to me by a climate researcher on a walk in N.Z. in 2016. The the CO2 levels was just under 400PPM, now its well over.

Pack your sunscreen and woolly jumper is my advice. A good sun hat and waterproof gloves. Maybe your sandals and winter boots as well.

Stay hydrated.

LETS GIVE IT A GO FOR A MONTH

Hello Cowra Yogi’s here in other places. It's been a while since I got to tap the plastic keys of my laptop and send out news. Its been eight months.

NEWS
Let’s get back into yoga at 8 College Drive Cowra Garage for the next month. !!

“One month” you say, “what the hell I’ve still got six unused passes to claim. “

Breathe deep and I’ll explain. I have to go to South Australia for several weeks in March and will be back so you can use those extra mature and well aged passes that are sitting in my high tech record keeping system. You know the one that has an abacus and a lead pencil two texta’s and a rubber.
My hieroglyphic, un hackable system has stood the test of time. Even A.I .couldn’t create a system as complex and as beautifully simple and effective as the one I have evolved.

In a parallel universe creatures similar to us use a computer like device to record the complex equations that track the potential for the human being and body to engage in a yoga class, but not here in this part of the outer spiral arm of the milky way galaxy.

Body Parts
Heart, tick, Back in action beating like a Latvian watch. Atrial Fibrillation has gone. Stable rhythm returned, fitness back and increasing.

Knee, tick. Pretty much got full movement and strength back. Swinging like a barn door in a stiff breeze. No more grinding, no more hyper extension. A lot less swearing (swearing can be good for you)

Mind, tick. Classes will be in Cowra only for this term until I access how my body is coping and adapting to both my yoga work and the other work that is on my plate. Call this the experimental tern of recovery.

Classes for this Term.

Cowra Garage Yoga Newsletter 15 08 2023

The Big BUT
How strange twists lead to life and beyond.
My recovery from full knee replacement has been travelling pretty well. Lots of movement and now Im completely off pain relief etc.
BUT
Catch a simple cold and then get Atrial Fibrillation ??? Work that one out.
My doctor reckons it could be a post operative response to the aesthetic that has thrown my heart out of whack. Ive had this before, ten years ago and got belted back into sinus rhythm within a day or two, and hey presto I was back to the world and work and walking and everyday life.
This time I’m on blood thinners and will be out of action for five to six weeks before getting belted back into rhythm again. A more cautious approach post operative.
Bu**er.
A.F.
The effect of Atrial Fibrillation is that your heart doesn’t contract properly due to irregular electrical impulses and it usually speeds up to make up the deficit, stressing the heart muscles and risking not pumping out the blood properly from the atrium chamber. The risk of a clot forming in the atrium and throwing off to form a stroke is there, and Im not willing to take that risk as you could imagine.
Energy wise I feel like I have about half of what is on offer and teaching full classes at present is out of the question. My energy levels are low.

End of September / Early October opening date hopefully.

I will keep you informed as to the time frame of the studio opening for formal classes again. I can’t see us getting underway until the end of September at least .
My apologies to you all.
Nameste to you all. Ken.

Hello Yoga folk. Check any small lumps and spots on your skin. Here is a chunk / fillet of yoga teachers neck. Yum. I’ve had a good sized BBC X 2 removed from the left side of my neck. Four weeks ago this was a very small item. Just a pimple and a bit red. Boom, four weeks later it’s around a 19 mm long and ready to sent to the pathologist.
Get checked now!!!
