When the nervous system settles, everything changes.
Breathing slows.
The body softens.
Emotions feel less overwhelming.

So many people live in a constant state of stress or survival mode, where regulating emotions feels impossible. By slowing down, engaging the body, and connecting with safe environments, we give the nervous system permission to reset.

Through grounding practices, movement, nature, animals, and therapeutic activities, we support emotional regulation in a way that feels natural — not forced.

Regulation comes before reflection.
Safety comes before healing.
This is where real change begins. 🌿

Saying No & Setting Boundaries

*Saying no is not rejection.
*It’s not selfish.
*And it’s not a lack of care.
**Saying no is an act of self-respect.**

Boundaries are the invisible lines that protect our mental health, energy, values, and nervous system. They help us stay safe, regulated, and connected—without burning ourselves out or losing who we are in the process.

When we don’t have boundaries, we often:
Feel overwhelmed or resentful
Say yes out of fear, guilt, or obligation
Put others’ needs above our own wellbeing
Become emotionally exhausted or disconnected

Setting boundaries means:
Knowing what is okay and what is not
Communicating needs clearly and respectfully
Allowing others to take responsibility for their own emotions

Choosing peace over people-pleasing
A healthy boundary might sound like:
“I can’t commit to that right now.”
“That doesn’t feel okay for me.”
“I need some time and space.”
“No, and that doesn’t require an explanation.”

Boundaries are not about controlling others—they’re about honouring yourself.
And when boundaries are respected, relationships become safer, healthier, and more authentic.

Just like horses respond best to calm, clear, and consistent boundaries, humans thrive when expectations are honest and respectful. Boundaries create trust, not distance.

So if no one has today you today....
You are allowed to say no.
You are allowed to protect your energy.
You are allowed to choose yourself—without guilt.

Under the Willow Tree Gippsland offers a safe, calm, and supportive space for individuals, children, and families to reconnect with themselves through counselling and equine-assisted therapy.

Set on a peaceful rural property in Gippsland, our sessions move away from the traditional clinical room and into nature — where healing can feel more natural, gentle, and real. Whether you’re sitting under the trees, walking the paddocks, or working alongside our horses, each session is guided at your pace and tailored to your needs.

🌿 Counselling Sessions
Our counselling services support emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and life challenges such as stress, anxiety, trauma, burnout, grief, and relationship difficulties. Sessions are grounded, practical, and compassionate — creating space to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgement.

🐎 Equine-Assisted Therapy
Equine therapy offers a unique, powerful way to explore emotions, boundaries, confidence, and connection. You don’t need riding experience — sessions take place on the ground, with horses acting as intuitive partners who respond honestly to human emotion. This can be especially beneficial for children, adolescents, and individuals who find talking difficult.
At Under the Willow Tree, we believe healing doesn’t need to be rushed or forced. It happens when people feel safe, supported, and connected — to themselves, to others, and to the natural world around them.

📍 Gippsland, VIC
🌏 Telehealth options available Australia-wide, for private and NDIS individuals.
🤍 Sessions available for children, adolescents, and adults.

If you’re feeling called to slow down, reconnect, and begin (or continue) your healing journey, you’re warmly invited to come and spend time with us under the willow tree.
