🌟 Speech Pathology Availability 🌟

The Teachie Speechie has availability for intensive sessions and assessments during term 1. I’ll be on leave for terms 2 and 3, but if you’re wanting a kick-start of speech and/or language development for your child (including a comprehensive report) I can accommodate this! I will come to you! 🚗

I’m both a speech pathologist and primary school teacher, so I can help navigate the beginning of year difficulties or anxieties for your child or family, as well as provide information to teachers that I know is useful.

This year I’m working with some of our Primary Schools to host ‘Family Bushfire Planning’ events.

It is so important to involve the whole family when you’re doing your Bushfire Survival Plan.

First up is at Coromandel Valley Primary School next Thursday night.

The local Community is welcome at these events and there is a free community BBQ thanks to the Rotary Club of Coromandel Valley and the Coromandel Valley Country Fire Service are bringing their truck for the kids (little and big) to explore and maybe you might even get to hold a hose.

Being prepared for the bushfire season will allow our community to be more resilient should a fire start in the area and involving your kids, talking to them about bushfires, will help them (and you) stay calm.

It was my client’s job to collect the school recycling, which needed to happen during our scheduled session… and no way did I want her missing out on this responsibility! So I tagged along for the learning journey.

Skills developed:
♻️Creating a step-by-step plan
♻️Understanding of time, directions and money
♻️Problem-solving (what if it’s still full?)
♻️Categorising (rubbish or recycling?)
♻️Building independence and confidence

Speech sound cards, tricky word cards, numbers… whatever! You put anything under these hamburgers* and suddenly a lame task becomes a GAME task. 🌟

*can be substituted for swords in Pop up Pirate, clothes pegs, playdough balls, toy cars… anything that motivates your child!

💪🏼 “Put your brave in front” 💪🏼

I’ve been lucky enough to support a student during their lessons, and this week we spoke about putting your ‘brave in front’ when you feel shy or nervous. 😥

I love that this motto acknowledges that the other feelings are still present, but we can be brave when needed. 😁

I’ll be using this phrase with my students from now on 🥰
