Dear Short Sprouts Speech Families,

As the holiday season approaches, we wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for being part of the Short Sprouts family. It has been a joy working with each of you and witnessing the progress of our young sprouts.

Please be informed that Short Sprouts Speech Pathology will be closed for the Christmas break from December 24, 2023, to January 8, 2024. We will resume our services on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

During this time, our dedicated team will be taking a well deserved break to recharge and spend quality time with their loved ones. We hope that you too can enjoy the festive season surrounded by warmth and joy.

Wishing you and your families a safe and happy holiday season, filled with laughter, love, and cherished moments. May the upcoming year bring new milestones and successes for your little ones.

At Short Sprouts Speech Pathology, we're delving into the world of speech.

Let's take a colourful journey to explore the vibrant aspects of speech and language.

Our speech therapist work their magic every day, helping kids and families with all things speech and language.

But, let's break it down to simple words, shall we? Here's what some of those fancy words actually mean.

😇 Pragmatics = How we use words.
Think of it as the rules of conversation, like taking turns and being polite when we talk.

Semantics = "What words mean."
It's all about understanding words and their meanings. Like knowing "dog" means your furry friend.

✍️ Syntax = How words go together.
This is like sentence-building.
Making sure words are in the right order, like "I love ice cream."

🔤 Morphology = The tiny word pieces.
Imagine it as the building blocks of words.
It changes what words mean.
🎶 Phonology = Sounds we make.
It's about making the right sounds, like "buh" for "ball" and "puh" for "pen.

👄 Phonetics = "How we make sounds."
