🍕👩‍🍳 Cooking Up Skills & Smiles! 👨‍🍳🍕
Today at the day centre, our participants are diving into one of their favourite programs—cooking! On the menu: mizza (our fun twist on mini pizzas)! 🧀🍅
Each participant gets to choose their own toppings and decide how they want their pizza made. It’s all about choice, control, and creativity—and the results are delicious!
This hands-on activity builds important life skills like food prep, hygiene, teamwork, and decision-making, while also supporting muscle development, coordination, and confidence. Plus, it’s a whole lot of fun!
👏 We love seeing our participants grow stronger, more independent, and proud of what they create.

The NDIS gives you money to help with your disability. This money is split into 3 types:
🔹 Core Supports – Help with daily life (like cooking, transport, or personal care).
💡 Core supports are flexible—you can use the money across different areas.

🔹 Capacity Building – Help you learn new skills, get a job, or manage your plan.
💡 This money is for specific goals and can’t be moved between categories.

🔹 Capital Supports – Pay for big things like equipment or home changes.
💡 These supports usually need a quote and approval.

📌 Not everyone gets all 3. Your plan is made just for you

Short term accommodation is now called short term respite.

We spoke with participants, families and carers about this change. Most told us that short term respite better reflects the value of informal supports and the importance of sustaining these relationships.

We know some people have concerns about the word ‘respite’, but many carers and families use and understand it well. After considering all the feedback, we chose this name because it’s clear and widely recognised.

Short term respite gives you time away from your usual care arrangements, while your primary informal supports take a short break.

We’ve updated Our Guideline to make it easier for you to understand and use. It explains:

✅ what it includes

✅ how it works

✅ where it can be used.
