🌟 Celebrating Jas — What 2 Years of Growth Can Look Like 🌟

Today we want to take a moment to celebrate someone incredibly special in our Atypical community — Jas 🤍

When Jas first began with us over 2 years ago, she was feeling isolated, with limited social connections and low confidence.

Auslan is Jas’ language, however due to limited access to Auslan-specific supports and community, she found it difficult to integrate and fully connect in everyday environments.

But what stood out immediately was her incredible connection with animals… and her quiet determination to achieve her goals.

And wow… what a journey it has been.

Over the past two years, Jas has:

🌱 Built strong, trusting relationships with the right support staff
💬 Grown her confidence in communication, including strengthening her use of Auslan in supported environments
🤝 Developed the confidence to engage in her local community
📚 Completed an external TAFE course
🐾 Thrived through hands-on learning in our animal pathways program

And now?

✨ Jas is leading groups at Atypical
✨ Caring for our animals like a boss
✨ Her communication is confident and strong
✨ And as of this month… she has achieved her long-term goal of working independently 🎉

Jas has absolutely smashed it out of the park, and we could not be prouder.

Her dedication, her commitment — even on the hardest days — is exactly what real growth looks like.

This is why we do what we do.
This is what it’s all about.

We are so proud of you, Jas 🤍

🏡 In-Home & Community Supports — Flexible, Personalised, Built Around You 🤍

At Atypical Solutions, support doesn’t just happen on the farm.

We provide 24/7 in-home and community supports, designed to meet people where they’re at — in their own environment, their routine, and their comfort zone.

✨ What are in-home supports?

In-home supports are all about helping you live your day-to-day life with greater independence, confidence, and ease.

This can look like:

🍳 Support with cooking, meals & daily routines
🧹 Household tasks and building independent living skills
🚗 Getting out into the community — appointments, shopping, social activities
💬 Communication support (including Auslan)
🤝 Companionship and meaningful connection
🌿 Regulation, routine, and emotional support

🌟 What makes Atypical different?

Our staff don’t just work in one space.

Every team member works across both our farm programs AND in-home/community supports — meaning you can:

✔️ Have the same trusted support workers across all environments
✔️ Build real rapport and consistency
✔️ Move between farm, home, and community supports seamlessly
✔️ Choose what works best — in-home, farm-based, or a combination of both

We know how important it is to feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported — and that starts with having the right people around you.

Whether you’re looking for a few hours a week or more comprehensive supports, we’re here to work alongside you.

🚨 Exciting Update from Atypical Farm 🚨

Due to increased demand, we’re excited to share that from April 27th, Atypical Farm will now be running programs 6 days a week!

🌿 New Operating Days & Hours:
Monday – Saturday
9:00am – 6:30pm daily

We will be offering both small group programs and 1:1 supports from the farm across all operating days — giving more flexibility for families and more opportunities for participants to access our unique, capacity-building environment.

✨ Why Atypical?

We keep our groups intentionally small to ensure every participant receives the level of support they need — creating a space that is inclusive, safe, and genuinely person-centred.

For us, it’s never been about numbers — it’s about quality, connection, and meaningful outcomes. Every program is designed with purpose, supporting independence, social connection, and real-life skill development.

If you haven’t connected with us yet…
now is the time 👇

✨ A Program With Purpose — For people ready to build Independence & Connection ✨

At Atypical Farm, our day programs are designed for more than just “something to do” — they’re built to support real-life skills, confidence, and meaningful connection.

Every day on the farm is an opportunity to develop skills that translate into everyday life, future pathways, and greater independence.

🌱 Building Real-Life Capacity
Participants are actively involved in cooking, farm tasks, animal care, and practical projects — developing routine, responsibility, and transferable skills.

🍳 Cooking & Daily Living Skills
From preparing meals to working together in the kitchen, participants build confidence in essential life skills that support independence at home and in the community.

🐄 Hands-On Farm & Animal Engagement
Working with animals supports emotional regulation, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose — with many participants taking pride in their roles on the farm.

🤝 Genuine Social Connection
This isn’t forced group interaction — it’s natural, supported connection. Participants build friendships, communication skills, and confidence in social environments.

🌿 Mental Wellbeing Through Nature
Being outdoors, working with hands, and engaging in meaningful tasks supports regulation, reduces stress, and improves overall wellbeing.

🛠 Pathways, Purpose & Skill Development
We focus on building toward something — whether that’s increased independence, community participation, or future employment pathways.

This is a space where everyone is respected, supported, and empowered — not just cared for.

If you’re looking for a program that builds confidence, independence, and real-world skills in a supportive and inclusive environment, we’d love to connect.

🌿 Introducing the Atypical Pathways Program 🌿

We’re excited to introduce Atypical Pathways, a new mentoring and community participation program supporting young people aged 12 – 25 living with disability and complex behavioural needs.

At Atypical, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to build confidence, connection and a sense of purpose.

Through meaningful relationships with mentors and support staff, participants are supported to develop:

✔ Confidence and self-belief
✔ Emotional resilience
✔ Social connection
✔ Life skills and independence
✔ Positive identity and direction

Supports may take place:

🐐 At Atypical Farm in Cranbourne South
🌏 In the community
🏡 In-home

Activities may include:

🔥 Animal care and farm projects
🎣 Fishing, outdoor adventures and fitness
🍳 Cooking and life skills
🛠 Hands-on projects and practical skills
💬 Mentoring conversations and guidance

Participants are thoughtfully matched with staff based on their interests and support needs, with gender-matched mentoring available where appropriate.

Programs operate daily from 10am – 6pm.

At Atypical, we walk alongside young people as they discover their strengths and create their own pathway forward.
