Recent NSW studies have reported, the smokers in the study died, on average, ten years earlier than the never smokers. With the life expectancy in Australia at 82.1 years, smokers are losing an average of one day in eight off their lives.
So, a person who started smoking at 15, who smoked an average of 15 ci******es a day and died at 72, would have smoked 312,288 ci******es in their lifetime. These each take about six minutes to smoke.

Across 57 years of smoking, this translates to 3.56 years of continual smoking, meaning that each cigarette on average can be expected to shave about 2.8 times the time it takes to smoke it off the end of smokers’ lives.

Ni****ne addiction is a problem for smokers, it causes cravings. But the largest problem in quitting is that smokers are stuck in a habit. Smokers establish a routine, and they associate smoking with certain places (your smoking spot at home for instance), particular emotions (stress etc), and certain people and times of day. Also, smokers take unrelated things such as drinking alcohol or coffee and do them while they smoke. It’s only habit. There are millions of coffee and /or alcohol drinkers who don’t smoke – it’s just conditioning.
In order to quit, consider how you can mix up your daily routine – avoid your smoking place at home, have a coffee inside instead. To get a different result, take a different action.

SMOKING – CAN YOU STOP?
I understand that as much as you want to quit, it may feel impossible to resist the cravings, and the habit. But is it really true that you can’t stop yourself?
