Headaches might be common, but that doesn’t mean that you should ignore them. Headaches can impair your movement and affect your productivity. Here are the top 6 remedies to help you safely, quickly, and effectively soothe headaches:

❄️ Cold or warm compress – A cold compress can help numb pain and reduce inflammation. A warm compress can help relax tight muscles around your neck and shoulders.

💧Hydration – Dehydration is a common cause of headaches, so make sure that you drink a full glass of water when you feel a headache coming.

🫖 Drink soothing teas – Chamomile, ginger, or dandelion tea can help you relax and soothe headaches.

🛏️ Sleep – Not getting enough sleep can lead to headaches, so make sure that you get enough quality sleep each night.

🪻 Aromatherapy – The smell of peppermint, lavender oil, or eucalyptus is soothing and can help reduce headaches.

💆🏻‍♀️ Massages – Massages can help ease muscle tension that causes headaches.

Chronic pain presents itself in many ways, but none is considered worse than Trigeminal Neuralgia. This disease earned the moniker “suicide disease” because of the intense pain it causes and the higher rates of suicide ideation in patients with Trigeminal Neuralgia. What exactly is Trigeminal Neuralgia? 🤔

Trigeminal Neuralgia is pain caused by the trigeminal nerves. These nerves originate from the brainstem and travel through the face. Trigeminal Neuralgia symptoms include
Constant pain
Light sensitivity
Sound sensitivity
Nausea

Trigeminal Neuralgia is often misdiagnosed as migraine. It can be caused by:
Multiple Sclerosis

Herpes zoster or Shingles
Scleroderma

Being a spoonie means wisely managing your energy. One activity you should never forget is exercising. Exercises help you become stronger, more flexible and mobile. Here are five chair exercises 🧎 you should enjoy as a spoonie.

Seated Arnold Press – Sit at the edge of the chair, keeping your back and spine straight. Hold a dumbbell in each hand with your palms facing towards you. Press the dumbbells overhead while rotating your hands until your palms are facing outward. Lower your hands until they are back to the starting position.

Incline Pushup – This is the same as a regular pushup except that you are placing your hands on the seat of the chair to form an incline. 🪑

Seated Hip Stretch – Sit up straight on the chair. Form a triangle by crossing one leg over the other, making sure that the ankle is resting over the knee of the other leg. Lean slightly forward and hold the position for a few seconds.

Seated jacks – Sit slightly forward in a chair with knees bent and feet together. Extend your legs straight out in a V position while raising your arms upward in another V position. ☑️

Seated Lean Backs – Sit on the chair with your spine straight and feet planted on the ground. Lean your upper back towards the back of the chair. When you feel your upper back touch the backrest of the chair, engage your core to return to the starting position.

Living with chronic pain is not only about the physical struggle. It can weigh heavily on the mind until every day feels like a battle.

The latest National Pain Report shows that nearly half of spoonies have thought about suicide. Many wait years for a diagnosis, only to be dismissed or left without proper care. 💔

More than just numbers, suicide is about people losing hope, families breaking under pressure, and friends watching someone they love slip away.

Nobody should have to endure this kind of hell in silence. Remember, you’re worthy of a fulfilling life. And asking for help is not a show of weakness, but is instead a step towards relief.

This World Suicide Prevention Day, let’s remind one another that nobody should face pain alone. And if you need support that’s more tailored? Please know we’re just a chat away. 🫂

The life of a chronic pain warrior is riddled with obstacles. And the largest hurdle is your idea of yourself. 🪞✨

In order to become a complete chronic pain warrior, start by confronting the dark parts of yourself. Acknowledge your flaws, fears, and limitations. When you understand your weaknesses, you can formulate a plan to compensate for them and minimise their negative effects.

Being a chronic pain warrior is not just about facing chronic pain. It is also about facing your inner struggles. Once you have done that, you can achieve emotional and spiritual growth. As a result, you can face each day with self-compassion, strength, wisdom and kindness.

Gabapentin is an epilepsy medication that’s also used to treat nerve pain. Is Gabapentin really safe for you? 🤔

Although Gabapentin is an established medication for treating nerve pain, some are now sounding the alarm about its potential health impact after long-term use. According to information released by researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Arizona State University, people who had six or more Gabapentin prescriptions were 29% more likely to develop dementia. They are also 85% more likely to develop mild cognitive impairment or MCI within 10 years of their initial chronic pain diagnosis. However, the researchers also cautioned that they still can’t establish a solid cause-and-effect link between Gabapentin and dementia. ✅

If you’re taking Gabapentin for nerve pain and looking for an alternative, consult a licensed doctor today at Pain Clinic Australia (PCA). PCA offers safe, effective, and custom relief for chronic pain. ✨
