✨The Trifecta: EDS, POTS & MCAS and why they’re so common in neurodivergent folk✨
Did you know that Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) often occur together and even more so in the neurodivergent community?
These three complex, multisystemic conditions can overlap and impact everything from energy, digestion, temperature regulation, and pain, to executive functioning and sensory processing.
🤸♂️EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome)
A heritable connective tissue disorder that can cause joint hypermobility, chronic pain, fatigue, and tissue fragility.
❤️POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
A form of dysautonomia that affects heart rate and blood flow, often triggered by standing, illness, or stress.
💥MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome)
An immune system condition where mast cells overreact to triggers like food, stress, temperature, and hormones, leading to allergy-like and inflammatory symptoms.
These conditions are deeply interconnected and have been found to frequently show up alongside autistic peeps and ADHDers.
Many of us spend years trying to make sense of chronic pain, fatigue, gut issues, and sensory sensitivities before receiving an accurate diagnosis or compassionate care.
