This is such a great visual of co-regulation. Of course sometimes your child won't want to be held and don't force it. But if we can stay calm, meet the feeling not the behaviour then co-regulation can happen. When we hold our child there is a physical change. Their nervous system will mirror ours. We just have to wait for the fire to go out.

Choiceworks app is an essential tool for helping children complete daily routines. This is my “go-to” app in therapy sessions.
This app is very easy to create schedules. There are 150 built in pics and you can customise the schedule by adding pics using the gadget camera.
It is a great tool to encourage independence, positive behavior, and support emotional regulation across home, school and home environments.
The app includes 3 different boards- schedule, waiting and feelings.
Choiceworks makes completing tasks fun and rewarding and serves as a visual reminder that can help to reduce anxiety around not knowing what to expect in sessions or across the day.
