ADHD diagnoses are climbing among adult women. Experts say it’s likely not a wave of misdiagnoses—but a sign that medicine is finally catching up to reality.

The overwhelming majority of research on ADHD has been done in boys and men, but symptoms often present differently for girls and women, causing many to go untreated.

- children / young people with challenges in engaging in education

A fascinating conference on what is best practice for diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. AADPA (Australian ADHD Professionals Association) brought together the psychiatrists, paediatricians, GPs, psychologists and other specialist health professionals for guidelines on medical and non medical approaches. Most relevant for my practice was 1) how thorough diagnosis for kids helps manage education and life outcomes and 2) late and under diagnosis of females has clear links to binge eating (and obesity).
