Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of marrying Renee and Blake. 🤍

These two have been together since 2011, and it’s so easy to see why they work so well. Blake brings the laughs, Renee keeps everyone grounded, and together they’ve built a beautiful life centred around love, family and loyalty.

Their story is proof that sometimes the best relationships don’t need a grand beginning. Blake actually moved in two weeks before they officially started dating, and somehow it just worked. When you know, you know.

Surrounded by family and friends in Nanango, they made it official and said “I do”, and it was such a privilege to stand with them as they stepped into this next chapter together.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Kinsela.
May your life together always be full of laughter, love, and plenty of those lazy Sunday family days. 🤍

On Saturday I married Kass, a proud Kamilaroi woman, to her forever person, Ryan. They were married at the beautiful Bunya Mountains and had 50 of their loved ones surround them with their love and support. Before the wedding ceremony commenced, Frank performed a smoking ceremony and Beau lead a Welcome to Country, before they shared in a ceremonial song.

This year marks 20 years since I participated in Lions Youth of the Year and I’m very privileged to be judging the Nanango and Blackbutt-Benarkin competition.

Programs like this are so important for our regional communities. They celebrate the intelligence, leadership, compassion and potential of the young people who will shape the future of Australia.

I’m really looking forward to meeting the students, hearing their ideas, and seeing the confidence and character they bring to the stage. Opportunities like this remind us just how capable and inspiring the next generation truly is.

A big thank you to the Nanango and Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Clubs and Nanango State High School for the work they do supporting young people and strengthening our community.

“We had the pleasure of having Simone as our marriage celebrant, she was approached with our “engagement party” turning into a surprise elopement for NYE.

Not only did she keep everything a secret but she accommodated our requests for short, no bs & to include our kids with family necklaces I had made, and even incorporated an “I do” promise to our stepkids as we handed them over.

She definitely made our blended family dynamic work into a ceremony & constantly communicated thoroughly to ensure we felt comfortable and made sure it wasn’t a “shotgun wedding” and making sure we both consent 😉

We couldn’t ask for anyone better, thank you so much for marrying us! ❤️”

Yesterday was something truly special 🤍 it was all about Kass & Ryan.

Before their ceremony began, we were welcomed in the most powerful way; with a Smoking Ceremony, Welcome to Country and ceremonial dance by Beau and Frank from the Wakka Wakka dancers. To witness culture honoured so intentionally, on wedding day soil, is something I was honoured to witness.

Kass, a proud Kamilaroi woman, stood grounded in who she is… strong, soft, radiant.
Ryan stood beside her, steady and sure.

Their ceremony was layered with meaning. A hand fasting as their hands gently bound as a symbol of two lives woven together.
An intimate vow exchange and promises. And a traditional ring exchange, sealing it all in the simplest and most enduring way.

It was culture. It was connection.It was family. It was legacy and love in the same breath.

There is something incredibly moving about watching two people honour where they come from while choosing where they’re going, together.

Kass & Ryan, thank you for trusting me to stand in that space with you. What a privilege 🤍

Yesterday was two years since I made a decision that would quietly change my entire life.

Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, spiritually.

Since having my gastric sleeve, I’ve lost 67kg. I’ve maintained my weight for the past seven months. And while those numbers are significant, they’re not actually the biggest transformation.

The biggest shift has been the way I see myself.

This journey hasn’t been about shrinking. It’s been about expanding.

Expanding my capacity for self-respect. For discipline. For boundaries. For compassion toward myself.

I’ve had to unlearn the way I used to speak to myself. I’ve had to sit with discomfort without numbing it.
I’ve had to rebuild trust with my own body.

Some days were empowering. Some were confronting. Some were quietly lonely.

But somewhere along the way, I stopped chasing “smaller” and started choosing “stronger.”
I stopped punishing myself and started caring for myself. I stopped waiting to feel worthy as I realised I always was.

This hasn’t been a glow-up. It’s been a grow-up.

A rediscovery. A softening. A deep, grounded kind of self-acceptance.

I’m proud of the weight I’ve lost. But I’m even prouder of the love I’ve gained.

For my body. For my resilience. For the woman who kept showing up, even on the hard days.

Two years later, I don’t just recognise the reflection in the mirror.

I recognise myself. 🤍

“We chose Simone because of our original connection. I went to school with Simone’s younger sister and was in the same grade. I wanted someone who I was familiar and felt comfortable with. I also wanted to support local as our wedding was in the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands.

I’m so glad we went with Simone. From the initial zoom meeting - communication was easy. Our wedding guests were blown away by the ceremony. They loved that it was personalised and not everyone knew our story (how we met) and complimented it was such a special touch. It was such a beautiful ceremony which complimented our other vendors we used.

“I truly couldn’t have picked a better celebrant. Simone is an amazing woman, so down to earth and genuinely invested in making your day exactly what you want it to be.

She was both our celebrant and MC on the day and she went above and beyond in every way. From the planning stages right through to the reception, she was organised, calm, professional and made everything feel effortless. She captured us perfectly and kept the energy flowing all day.

Simone and I both met our husbands in Morven, and they’re both truckies, which made it feel like we had this special little full circle connection from the very beginning. She had also led my late best friend’s Celebration of Life service, so I already felt such a strong trust and bond with her. Having her stand with us on such an important day meant more than I can put into words.

We are so incredibly grateful for everything she did and would recommend her to absolutely anyone getting married 🤍”
