🦓 Help Shape Zebrahood
I’m in the early stages of creating Zebrahood — a calm, psychology-based online support space designed for people living with invisible or complex health conditions.
Before anything is finalised, I want to listen.
If you’re someone who:
• lives with fluctuating energy or invisible conditions
• values nervous system support and gentle, evidence-based tools
• wants support that feels grounding, not overwhelming
I’d really value your input.
I’ve created a short questionnaire to better understand what people actually want and need — so Zebrahood is shaped by real experiences, not assumptions.
✨ Your responses will directly guide how this space is created.
✨ There’s no selling — just listening and learning.
✨ You can also choose to be the first to hear when Zebrahood opens.

Thank you for helping shape something intentional, supportive, and meaningful.

The term medical misogyny has received an honourable mention for word of the year by Macquarie Dictionary.

This is not a surprise. It is because it is real, it happens, and it is relatable.

This is some ways to show what it feels like this:
Being told to “just rest."
Being given antidepressants instead of answers.
Waiting a decade for a diagnosis that should’ve taken months.
Feeling like you’re speaking an alien language no one in the room understands.
Feeling dismissed or not heard.

This term — medical misogyny — isn’t just a definition.
It’s validation.
It’s truth.
It’s lived experience.
And it’s why women’s stories matter now more than ever.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed or unseen…you’re not alone.
And you’re not imagining it.
Be part of the change. Join a space where you are part of the herd.

Today is a powerful reminder that behind every smile, every "I'm fine," and every silent moment — there might be someone carrying more than you know.

For many there is more going on behind the surface, and those with stress, worry, mental health, invisible conditions, fatigue, trauma, or chronic stress... being asked “Are you OK?” could be the lifeline that helps them feel seen, heard, and supported.

This R U OK? Day, we invite you to go beyond the surface:
✨ Ask with genuine care.
✨ Listen without judgment.
✨ Hold space without fixing.
✨ Check in again, and again.

You don’t need perfect words. Just presence.

💛 Today, and on any day — check in with your mates, your team, your family, your community. You never know who’s waiting for someone to notice.

Experienced Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection? 🙋‍♀️Here's a simple way to get involved.

This study is investigating how autonomic-nervous-system changes may underlie “non-cardiac” symptoms such as migraine, dizziness and fatigue that often accompany along SCAD.
Who can take part?
• Adults 18+ with a clinician-confirmed SCAD diagnosis
• Able to read and respond in English
What’s involved?
• One ethics-approved online survey (≈ 10–20 min)
Your answers will clarify how nervous-system symptoms intersect with heart disease and, we hope, drive better care pathways for people whose concerns are too often dismissed.

This is a University of Adelaide study. Data stored securely on Australian servers and reported only in aggregate. Take the survey now at https://redcap.link/CALM-NOCA

Too often symptoms are dismissed, misrecognised or labelled as anxiety. This workshop aims to close the critical gap in women's health care, focusing on conditions that often overlap with neurodevelopmental conditions, trauma, and disordered eating/gut issues, and are often hidden in plain sight. The training equips professionals with the knowledge, tools, and trauma-informed approaches needed to recognise, validate, and effectively respond to complex conditions that are too often overlooked or misdiagnosed, and is suitable for all health providers.

Training is delivered online on Wednesday 22nd October 2025
Time: 9:30am to 3:00pm AEST
Investment: $347 AUD

Due to demand, and the fact that so many people in our rural and regional communities are struggling with health, money, and connection, I’m looking at starting something new and accessible. I am keen to help build stronger, happier, and connected communities.

The facts are unignorable:
✅ 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental health challenge each year
✅ Rural areas have less than half the mental health professionals per person compared to cities
✅ Loneliness can be as harmful to your health as smoking 15 ci******es a day

✅ Financial stress is one of the top 3 causes of stress in Australia
✅ Cost-of-living pressures hit rural areas harder
✅ Feeling connected reduces stress hormones and boosts resilience

✅ Chronic stress raises the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and depression
✅ Small daily changes can significantly improve your wellbeing
✅ You don’t need to wait months or travel hours to get support

And, not everyone wants or needs therapy. And access can be difficult. That's where this support and educational group fits in.

WHISE Choices – An online group designed for rural and regional Aussies who want to feel happier, upskilled, calmer, more connected, more in control, and learn to get back being too busy livin' rather than stressing. We meet twice a month online for support and skills around the top stressors:

🌿 Health & Happiness – feel better in your body, mind & with your mates
💰 Wise Money Skills – manage financial stress with more confidence
💆‍♀️ Stress Reduction Skills – practical tools you can use every day
🎯 Goal Setting – create a clear plan and stay on track
🤝 Support & Connection – a community that understands & motivates you

On top of the twice monthly live group mentoring calls, practical resources, monthly challenges, and a supportive community that understands life out of the city areas.

Nichi is a clinical psychologist with qualifications and decades of experience in business and entrepreneurship. Nichi has experience across diverse sectors including health, manufacturing, landscaping, beauty, and education. Nichi is also a growth-oriented rural business woman, mum, wife, author, and lover of fun, freedom and family time.

I’m currently looking for expressions of interest from people who might like to be part of this new group. Please note, this is NOT therapy nor replaces it. It is not suitable for the needs of complex mental health.

If you are interested, message me for more info and I’ll send you the details :)

🔥 Breaking the Trauma Cycle - A must listen for anyone with invisible health, trauma or burnout 🔥

I had so much fun doing this podcast episode where I’m joined by the incredible Dr. Nat Green — trauma breakthrough coach, bestselling author, and creator of the Seven Archetypes of Transformation.

We go deep into what it really takes to heal after trauma — beyond just talking about it.

🎙 Inside this episode:
* Why trauma isn’t only in your head — it lives in your nervous system
* How vicarious trauma and burnout quietly erode our wellbeing, long before we even realise it
* The power of holistic healing approaches that reconnect your head, heart, and gut
* What it means to discover your trauma archetype
* How post-traumatic growth is possible, no matter how long you’ve struggled

If you’ve ever been dismissed, gaslit, or told you’ll “never get better,” this is your reminder: Healing is possible!

💛 This is a must-listen for anyone living with invisible conditions, trauma, burnout, working in the health professions, or searching for hope after life’s hardest chapters.

An introductory guide for GPs on hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome – a clinical diagnosis that can be made in the primary setting

20/06/2025

Our latest research reveals key differences in how affects adolescents vs adults — and how far we still have to go.

📍 Australians with POTS face an average diagnostic delay of nearly 7 years — over two years longer than the 4.9-year global average reported in international studies (Shaw et al., 2019).

📍 Adolescents report more severe orthostatic intolerance

📍 Adults experience more bladder & gut symptoms

📍 But quality of life is equally poor across both groups.

Some good news?

In South Australia, diagnostic delays have improved in recent years — from an average of 12.9 years to just 1.6 years for those diagnosed since 2019.

But across Australia, too many are still being misdiagnosed, dismissed, or left without care.

65% of patients were told their symptoms were "just anxiety"

Over half had presented to an emergency department before diagnosis
Patients saw an average of 5 doctors before receiving a correct diagnosis.

"Our findings reflect a cohort who could access a specialist clinic — not equitable access across Australia."

We need urgent investment in early recognition, access to care, and treatment tailored to young Australians, especially women and girls.
