Parent Workshop
📅 15th October | 1.45–2.35pm
📍 Dalwallinu District High School Library
This is a free workshop for parents who have children at DDHS

OT Groups – Term 4
Small group sessions (max 4 per group) running Wednesdays during school time.

Pre-Kindy Group (Ages 3–4 years)- This group is for children who will be attending kindy in 2026.

Kindy- This group is for children who are currently in kindy.

Pre-Primary- This group is for children who are currently in pre-primary.

We’re excited to be running small group Occupational Therapy sessions for Term 4!

Kindy Group will focus on:
✏️ Prewriting patterns
✂️ Cutting
🖐 Fine motor skills
📝 Name writing
✍️ Pencil grip

Pre-Primary Group will focus on:
🔤 Letter formations
✂️ Cutting
🖐 Fine motor skills
📏 Letter placement

Details:
- Maximum of 4 students per group
- 6 week program (week 3-8 of term 4)
- 45-minute sessions
- Wednesdays, Term 4 2025
- $300 for the term
- Minimum numbers are required for groups to run

Don’t throw out those broken crayons and chalk…

Did you know that using small and thick writing tools can greatly enhance your child’s fine motor development? 🌟 These tools encourage grasp development, strengthen hand muscles, and improve coordination, making it easier for little hands to master writing, colouring, and other essential skills.

Why it works:
- Grasp Development: The chunky design promotes a more natural hand position.
- Muscle Strength: Small size means kids need to use their fingers more, building up those important hand muscles.
- Control: Better grip means better control, helping kids stay within the lines and improve their precision.

Instead of using pencils encourage your little one to use small snd thick writing tools, especially if they are struggling with their grasp development. As children get older and writing demands increase it’s important they have a functional pencil grasp that does cause pain or decrease their speed.

It’s time to reconsider time out and instead focus on connection in those hard moments for children.

Time out is seen as a gentle discipline method by many but it has consequences for the parent-child bond. There is a better way.

Term 1 OT groups are back again for 2024!

These groups are a great opportunity for children to access OT services at a more affordable rate.

If you've got any concerns about your child's fine motor, handwriting, sensory processing or attention please contact Kelly via email or PM to see if this group is suitable for your child. Spaces are limited to 4 children per group.

Where: Dalwallinu Early Learning Centre (playgroup room)

When: Thursdays starting the 15th of Feb (week 3 of school) for 5 weeks.

Cost: $250

Please note groups will only run if enough interest is expressed.
