Autocorrect gave me beastfeeding and frankly… it just might be onto something 🤸😂

IYKYK when your older baby goes from breastfeeding 🤱 to BEASTFEEDING!!! 🦖

While distracted feeding & ‘gymnurstics’ are pretty common as our older baby becomes more aware and curious, it can be a risky time latch-wise so protect those nips Mumma!

So what’s your little ‘Beastfeeders’ signature move? 😁👇 Better still, DM us if you have a photo capturing your ‘beastfeeder’ in action that you’re happy to share 🤩

🌸 Hip hip hooray it’s IBCLC Day today!…And I’d like to share my gratitude for all those who have shared this LC journey with MnK! 🧁🎉

💟 THANK YOU to my IBCLC colleagues for your inspiration, guidance & collegiate support. I hope you all feel loved & appreciated today ✨

💟 THANK YOU MnK supporters, followers & friends who encourage and energise me to show up & share infant feeding and parenting content here (despite rarely nailing the algorithm) ☺️

💟 THANK YOU most of ALL, to the little families who have invested in lactation guidance & support from Milk & Kindness, and shared your feeding and parenting journey with me.

Breastfeeding is hard because…..
Although women have been breastfeeding babies since the dawn of time, it can really feel hard!?!

What made breastfeeding hard for you, and what could or would have made it ‘easier’? 🤱

Share ⬇️ so that Mummas who also found learning to breastfeed hard might just feel a little less alone, and Mummas-to-be have an inkling that breastfeeding confidence and enjoyment can take time and it’s important to know where to get skilled help if you need it 🤍🤍🤍

So keep spreading the word Mummas that your Pilbara based LCNat can provide…

We always have honest & heartfelt conversations in our STEP early parent group, and a common theme is the ‘unexpected’ day to day realities of parenting a newborn 🤱

Mummas openly share their reflections around the anticipation & expectation versus the actual reality of pregnancy, birth, newborn feeding & sleep, and navigating the 24/7 responsibility of caring for their baby on limited sleep 😴💜

What was the most surprising thing about early parenthood for you and your partner?

What do you wish you knew when you were anticipating the birth of your little one? Lets start normalising the complexity of early parenthood in all its forms 🌿

PSA…our next Milk & Kindness STEP group starts late March. Spread the word and keep your eye out for when registrations go live mid March ✨

💬 Breastfeeding education — when did it help you most?

Some expectant parents found learning the basics before baby arrived gave them a realistic and confident start, while others say it only clicked once baby was here and feeding.

So many different breastfeeding journeys. What worked for you? Did you feel prepared for breastfeeding? Drop your comment below 👇

DM Nat or click on the link in our bio if you’d like more information about antenatal or postnatal education and services we offer 🤍

1000% yes! ✨💜

I see so much pressure on parents to feed by the clock, by volumes, or by apps that promise certainty. But babies don’t work like spreadsheets.

Babies are variable. Their cues change, their needs shift, and what works one day may not work the next. When parents are supported to watch their baby instead of the numbers, I often see confidence begin to grow.

Not because it becomes easy, but because the relationship starts to lead.

What helped you learn your baby’s hunger cues, or what still feels confusing about them?

✨ Wishing a very Merry Christmas to my amazing Mums, Dads/Partners and their little families. I hope your little ones are snuggled in early tonight and you get a smidge more sleep this Christmas Eve ✨🥰

☀️ When it’s Ho Ho Hot! Summer in our wide brown land can often bring high to extreme daytime temperatures!!! 🥵 Here are our tips for keeping comfy & cool when breastfeeding in the hotter months.

☀️Stay well hydrated, Mumma and keep your water bottle topped up and handy, remembering to drink to thirst. Baby will do the same…so continue to offer them frequent breastfeeds on demand throughout the day.

☀️ When you’re breastfeeding out and about and ‘on the go’, remember that your exclusively breastfed baby won’t need additional water (your breastmilk is 87% water!), but hot weather can make them sleepier. So make sure they have frequent wet and odourless nappies and wake them for feeds if needed.

☀️ Dress yourself and Bub in loose, light, breathable fabrics to keep you both cool. In the cooler hours of the day, feeding baby while stretching out on a picnic rug in the shade will also help keep you both comfortable.

☀️ Most importantly take care of yourself Mumma. I know you’re juggling alot especially during this hectic ‘holiday’ season. Know your boundaries and limits. You’ve got this beautiful 💕💕💕

☀️ For 24/7 breastfeeding support during the festive season, call the ABA helpline 24/7.
If you have medical concerns for yourself or baby, call Healthdirect 24/7 on 1800 022 222

For our Dads!
Perinatal Mental Health Week 💙💙💙

‘‘I used to think being stressed meant I was failing as a dad. Now I know it just means I am human. Life with kids will always be messy, but it is how we manage the pressure that makes the difference’ – Arran MacDougall

New dads and partners, this one's for you. The expectation to be a provider and a source of strength can be immense. It's easy to feel like you have to have all the answers and never show a sign of struggle, but that pressure can take a serious toll on your mental health. It's time to break the silence and get what you need, when you need it.

💙 Your mental health matters: It's okay to feel overwhelmed. Your well-being is just as important as everyone else's, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

🫂 Find tailored support: There are resources specifically designed for fathers and partners. You deserve to get the help that meets your unique needs and experiences.

💬 A call to action for everyone
If you're a father, know that help is available. If you know a father, check in on him. This is how we work together to ensure everyone gets what they need, exactly when they need it.

What you need when you need it.
Visit pmhweek.org.au to find the right support for you or a loved one.
