There’s been a lot of talk about our ancestors running as fast as Usain Bolt.

What we do know comes from fossilised human footprints — over twenty thousand years old — found here in Australia.

From these tracks, scientists can estimate stride length, toe-off and speed. Some suggest very fast sprinting. Others show incredible endurance.

What’s striking isn’t just how fast they moved —
it’s how well their feet worked.

Strong big toes. Elastic arches. Adaptable ankles.

Modern life flattened that system.

Healthy feet aren’t fragile — they’re just under-trained.

And the good news is, they respond remarkably well when we train them properly.

I have a lot of tools, equipment and experience (!!) to help with foot, ankle, knee pain and get you up and running, maybe not as fast as Bolt, but running nonetheless

Before physiotherapy, I trained in archaeology and anthropology — and that still shapes how I see the human body today.

Our biology hasn’t changed much.
Our environment has.

We sit more, move less, load differently — and our bodies adapt accordingly.
Sometimes, understanding modern pain means taking a much longer view.

A hidden benefit of Pilates (and other well-designed movement programs) 🦴

The bones of your spine rely on blood flow that’s driven by movement, posture and breathing — not just strength or load.

Because some spinal veins don’t have valves, varied movement matters:
↔️ rotation
↕️ flexion & extension
🌬️ breathing with movement

Pilates naturally includes all of this — helping support spinal health from the inside out.

I’m really happy to share that my new website is now live! It’s been a big year of change, challenges and some important decisions, but stepping away from my previous role opened the door to something really positive.

I’ve now created Combined Clinics Physiotherapy — a space where I can deliver the level of care I believe in, with a strong focus on accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment and next-level technology. We now have real-time ultrasound, BTL Focused Shockwave, VALD ForceDecks and Dynamo to support clear assessment and great outcomes.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me through this transition. Your messages, patience and encouragement have meant the world. I’m excited for this new chapter and looking forward to helping even more people move, feel and live better.

How's that for balance, posture, core stability, ritual, and discipline? I was at the Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo earlier this week and was inspired by these incredible athletes. As a hip specialist, I was particularly impressed by the glutes' strength and hip range.
