On World Diabetes Day, we are proud to celebrate the impact of the DREAM Program, made possible through the legacy gift left by the late Tim and Yoshiko Wright.

Launched in Feb 2024, DREAM brings St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney diabetes experts to regional NSW. Prof Jerry Greenfield and CNC Gael Holters lead our monthly mobile clinic, supporting complex patients, training local clinicians, and providing telehealth follow-up with Little Wings’ support.

The Wrights’ transformational bequest further advances vital research in osteoporosis and bone health.

We thank Peter and Rae Fletcher who generously donated an essential mobile retinal camera, helping treat diabetic patients in rural and regional settings.

Today, we honour their vision in bringing expert care to the communities who need it most.

We’re proud to congratulate Peter Duncan and the entire Pirtek Network on 45 years as an Australian industry leader.

For more than a decade, Pirtek and its incredible community have stood with St Vincent’s, raising close to $900,000 through initiatives like the Pirtek Fishing Challenge and Pirtek Ultimate Motorsport Prize.

Your support of the Peter Duncan Neurosciences Research Unit has advanced world-class research into Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, MS and HIV, contributed to over 50 clinical studies, and helped drive discoveries that will change lives for generations to come.

From all of us at St Vincent’s Curran Foundation – thank you, and here’s to another 45 years of innovation, compassion and impact.

At last week’s American Australian Association Benefit Dinner, Dr Georgia McCaughan highlighted the impact of the St Vincent’s Clinical Exchange, which continues to change lives across Australia and the US.

In just two years, St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney has become the largest exchange partner, with six programs running and a seventh - the Rothery Family / Goldman Sachs Gives Cardiothoracic Access Exchange, now launching.

From the Cellular Therapies Nurse Exchange to Australia’s very first CAR-T therapy for MS, clinicians gain access to global expertise while improving patient care at home.

When every move counts, accuracy matters.

We have launched a campaign for the Brainlab Neuronavigation System, using advanced imaging and robotic technology to make neurosurgery safer and more effective.

Our goal is $7.4 million to support Dr Timothy Lukins and the neurosurgical team at St Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney, including funding the Loop-X 3D robotic imaging system to complete the Brainlab suite.

Together, we are helping St Vincent's surgeons perform complex procedures with greater precision and faster patient recovery.

When Aaron from New South Wales found out he’d won the Ultimate Motorsport Raffle, he was over the moon. But behind the excitement of the Bathurst 1000 experience was something far more meaningful.

“My dad’s living with dementia, so knowing this raffle supports research into neurological diseases makes it even more special,” Aaron shared.

Thanks to Aaron, Pirtek and everyone who entered, vital funds are helping the Peter Duncan Neurosciences Research Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney accelerate breakthroughs for people living with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and MS.

Together, we’re driving discovery and delivering hope.

Today marks 50 years since Australia’s first adult bone marrow transplant at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney - a moment that changed lives forever.

Led by A/Prof James Biggs, this pioneering procedure grew into a world-leading program, performing over 80 lifesaving transplants each year.

Thanks to our incredible nurses, doctors, researchers, and generous supporters, patients continue to receive innovative treatment, compassionate care, and access to cutting-edge research when they need it most.

From that single historic transplant and with the enduring support of our donors, St Vincent's continues to set new benchmarks in cancer care every day.

St Vincent’s Hospital has been an essential part of Sydney for over 160 years, known for its excellence, innovation, deep care, kindness, and respect.

And the work of the St Vincent’s Curran Foundation, made possible by the extraordinary generosity and commitment of philanthropic donors, ensures that the care delivered by St Vincent’s Hospital remains truly transformative.

The Governor-General joined the St Vincent’s Curran Foundation for their Annual Spring Reception, celebrating their dedication to supporting St Vincent’s excellence around Australia for over 40 years.

She reflected on her own experiences at St Vincent’s in Sydney — as a patient, a visitor, and as Governor-General, witnessing firsthand the work of teams including those at NELUNE Men’s Health Centre, Homeless Health Outreach, and Aboriginal Health services.

In thanking the generous philanthropists involved in St Vincent’s Curran Foundation, the Governor-General reflected on the vital role of care, kindness and respect, describing philanthropy as “care in action.”

Throughout the evening, all were reminded of the profound foundational role of the Sisters of Charity and the vital role of St Vincent’s doctors, nurses, researchers and staff.

Our gratitude to all involved in the St Vincent’s Curran Foundation for what you make possible at St Vincent’s.

A special thank you to:

Dementia, including Alzheimer’s, impacts hundreds of thousands of Australians and their families, carers, and communities.

At St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney Prof Bruce Brew, Head of the Neurosciences Program and Director at the Centre for Applied Medical Research, is breaking new ground in understanding brain health and neurodegenerative diseases.

Prof Brew’s team has made incredible progress this year, using advanced models to better replicate brain disease, improve research precision, and bring new hope for treatments to slow or reduce dementia.

By supporting this work during Dementia Action Week and beyond, we are helping to turn today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s solutions for people living with dementia.
