ππ World Down Syndrome Day ππ
Today, March 21, we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day - a global day of awareness, acceptance, and celebration of people with Down syndrome.
The date 21/3 represents the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. But today isn't about chromosomes or diagnoses - it's about celebrating people, their contributions, their achievements, and their place in our community.
At Metanoia Rays, we're proud to support participants with Down syndrome to live their lives - pursuing their goals, building independence, forming connections, and achieving things that matter to them.
People with Down syndrome are:
β¨ Students, employees, artists, athletes, advocates
β¨ Friends, siblings, partners, parents
β¨ Community members who enrich our world
β¨ Individuals with unique strengths, dreams, and personalities
Today, we stand for:
π Inclusion in all aspects of life
π Equal opportunities and access
π Listening to and amplifying self-advocate voices
π Celebrating abilities and achievements
π Building a world where everyone belongs
This World Down Syndrome Day, let's commit to creating communities where people with Down syndrome are valued, included, and celebrated - not just today, but every day.
