Spot On Orofacial Myology Clinic Darwin

Spot On Orofacial Myology Clinic Darwin You are welcome to self-refer to this clinic.

Spot On Orofacial Myology offers customised orofacial myofunctional therapy programmes for the evaluation and treatment of abnormal facial and oral muscle function in children. The goals of orofacial myofunctional therapy are to:

• Achieve nasal breathing (day and night) with lip seal
• Have the tongue resting on the roof of the mouth
• The cessation of non-nutritive sucking (e.g. thumb/finger/dummy)
and chewing habits
• Bilateral chewing with lip seal and nasal breathing

Tongue-tie assessment, referral and pre and post release therapy is also a major focus. Orofacial myologists work in a multi-disciplinary environment to support patients in the rehabilitation of muscle function and habit cessation and enhance the outcomes of their patient's care. This can include Ear Nose and Throat specialists, Oral Surgeons, Orthodontists, Speech Pathologists, Paediatricians, General Practitioners, General Dental and Medical Practitioners, Chiropractors and Osteopaths.

😁Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy 😁

It's something most people haven't heard of, but many of us wish we had!

Early intervention is the key, so help spread the word. All parents, teachers, health professionals should know about this.

I see children with a range of different issues, but they're often all connected so be sure to give me a call if you've noticed any of the following in your children;

👉 Mouth breathing
👉Snoring, sleep walking/talking, bedwetting, nightmares/terrors, restless sleep
👉Grinding of teeth
👉Crowded/crooked teeth
👉Tongue/lip tie
👉Oral habits like thumb/finger/tongue sucking
👉History of long term speech therapy
👉Articulation errors, lisps
👉Behavioural concerns like inattention and hyperactivity,

❇️EARLY INTERVENTION ❇️

If your child’s teeth appear crowded and you’re worried they won’t have space for their adult teeth then an Orofacial Myology Assessment is a great place to start.
Don’t wait until they are 12/13 years of age, have all of their adult teeth and risk having to have teeth pulled out to make space.

There are many reasons why a child’s jaws might not develop correctly, with mouth breathing being just one of them.

EARLY INTERVENTION and PREVENTION is the key 🔑

NB: I am currently taking new client bookings for Term 1

🤔 Is your child a mouth breather?

- Do they sleep with their mouth open 🥱
- Watch tv/relax with their mouth open 😮
- Chew with their mouth open 🫢
- Snore 😴
-Have airborne allergies 🤧

… if YES then they’d absolutely benefit from an Orofacial Myology Assessment.

If you’re not sure if your child is a mouth breather, give me a call and we can figure it out.

Mouth Breathing is NOT NORMAL and has negative effects on a child’s growth and development.
Deal with it now! The earlier the better.
