It's been a while.
I get lost in life sometimes. I also work a job that necessitates a lot of screen time so I actively avoid it when I get home, even if it means my new little venture suffers.
We all have our limits...
Anyway, Mabon (Autumn Equinox) Blessings! Happy Easter, and Blessed Ostara/ Eostre to my Northern Hemisphere loves.
Here in the Southern Hemisphere, The Autumn Equinox is a time to take stock of your 'harvest' from the Spring and Summer seasons and begin to prepare for Samhain and the slow down of late Autumn and Winter.
There is a quick and simple Mabon Tarot Spread you can do for yourself to check in and take stock of the seasons of growth and fecundity. I call it the Stocktake Spread (yep, Queen of the Obvious here!!)
I've included an image of the 4 card spread, along with an example reading for your reference. Let's break it down.
Card One: What has Grown? Ace of Athames
The first card is all about examining your harvest for the past two seasons. What did you plant (physically, spiritually mentally and emotionally) in your Spring rituals? What did you nurture, and foster over the season of Summer growth and connection? What did you protect against the wild storms and baking heat of the season? What has planted deep within you that can survive the cycles of birth and death as each season morphs into another?
In the example reading, the querant has drawn the Ace of Athames (Swords). They have sown the seeds of rigorous enquiry and new beginnings for themselves and it is a very auspicious beginning. It won't be easy - the Athames always cut both ways, but there is mental determination and a clear head so the harvest will more than likely be bountiful.
Card 2: Hidden Blessings. What am I grateful for? The Crone
The Querant is grateful for the strength, wisdom and courage they have shown over the past seasons to be where they are at this moment. They have learned much through the hard work and determination of planting their seeds and the energy of this card in the gratitude space, with all of its encompassing compassion and wisdom, softens the Ace of Athames and and gives it light and positivity.
Card 3: What can I give to others? The Holly King
Given the wisdom and compassion that the querant is grateful for, and the inspiration and ideas in the mental/ communication space of the Ace of Athames, the Holly King in the giving space suggests that the querant could consider mentoring others, and showing through example, the power of growth, the evolution of thought, and understanding.
Card 4: What can the Darkness teach me? King of Pentacles
As our world gets darker and the days get longer and colder, we also move into a different state of being. We need to be sure that we are well stocked for the Winter months. In the example reading, the querant has drawn the King of Pentacles. You couldn't really ask for a much better card to sit in this space in the Stocktake Reading.
The querant has done the hard yards over the Spring and Summer seasons. They have had a spark of inspiration and acted on it, gaining the strength, courage, and wisdom to see their vision through and they face the darker months in comfort, knowing that their hard work and strong business sense will see them through to the Spring. They are generous with their bounty and prepared to help those in need.
