🎉 Participant End of Year Celebration 🎉
Our End of Year Celebration was about coming together as a community — recognising the time, trust and commitment our participants have shared with us throughout the year. It was a chance to acknowledge the work we’ve done side by side, the connections built, and the importance of simply showing up for one another. 💛

We’re thankful to the community partners who helped make the day possible:
⛳ , our long-time hosts who have generously supported this event over many years
🎁 for donating a grazing platter
☕ for coffee and cake vouchers
🏏 for donating two Yeti water bottles earlier this year

Most of all, thank you to our participants for being part of our community and for walking this journey with us.

🌿 This is what we achieved together in 2024–2025…
This year, our community came together to create real, meaningful impact across the Top End.

Here are just some of the highlights:
✨ Culturally grounded support through one-on-one assistance, SEWB groups on Country, healing camps, and weekly Daluk and Bininj groups.
✨ Growing our First Nations workforce with cultural supervision, diploma-level mental health training, and language courses.
✨ Strengthened partnerships with Aboriginal-controlled organisations, plus launching our LGBTQIA+ Youth Support Group in Palmerston.
✨ Recognition for excellence – our Two Ways Mentoring Program received a Special Commendation at the NT Mental Health Week Awards.
✨ Building capability – delivering mental health workshops to 81 NT staff and welcoming 5 new trainees into the sector.
✨ Celebrating creativity and recovery – LIMHS Rapid Creatives placed 2nd at the Seabreeze Festival, and we launched Darwin’s first peer-led Hearing Voices Community Group.
✨ Family & Carers Day – a new initiative strengthening connection, reducing stigma, and celebrating recovery journeys.

Thank you to our staff, participants, families, carers, and partners.
Together, we’re strengthening wellbeing and connection across the Northern Territory. 💛

🌟 As we wrap up the year, our Big Rivers team took a meaningful moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect. On Wednesday, following a lovely lunch at the Golf Club, the team came together for a reflective wellbeing and team-building activity that invited us to look back on 2025 — and look forward with intention to the year ahead.

The Big Rivers team took part in an afternoon of meaningful reflection, connection, and future-focused planning. Their insights and teamwork helped shape a shared vision for the year ahead.

We’re also thrilled to welcome two new team members to our Big Rivers Office — Brendan, Regional Manager, and Nneamaka, Child and Family Intensive Support Worker. Both bring incredible experience in the human services space, and we’re excited to have them join TeamHEALTH.🌞

We’re feeling inspired for what 2026 holds for Big Rivers ✨

🌏 Human Rights Day
Today we recognise the ongoing importance of upholding human rights — including the right to healthcare, education, safety, dignity, and mental wellbeing. This year, we reflect on the rights every person should experience — not occasionally, but every single day. Dignity. Safety. Inclusion. Connection. These are our everyday essentials.

This year marks another step in the global effort to ensure that no one is left behind, especially those most at risk of discrimination, exclusion or disadvantage.

At TeamHEALTH, we affirm that mental health is a human right — and we are committed to delivering services that respect autonomy, culture, and access for all.

Our CEO, Rina Bruinsma and Executive Manager Services, Gillian Frew were proud to attend the Gathering of Voices in Katherine, as part of this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign under the local Big Rivers theme: Understanding Big Rivers.

The event brought together community leaders, service providers, and advocates for meaningful conversations about local challenges, leadership, and collaboration.

We were moved by the honesty, courage, and heart shared by the panellists, and the ongoing conversations that connected and strengthened the Big Rivers community. TeamHEALTH acknowledges the incredible work of KWILS - Katherine Women's Information & Legal Service Inc the panellists, and keynote speaker DFSV Commissioner Micaela Cronin, for driving awareness and change in our local context.

The day also included a powerful march through Katherine, where families, Elders, frontline workers, young people, and community members walked side by side — showing that ending violence is everybody’s business. The courage, solidarity, and energy from the community were inspiring reminders of what can be achieved when we stand together.

Together, we continue to listen, learn, and stand alongside communities in support of safety, respect, and inclusion.

💜 International Day of Persons with Disabilities
This day is a powerful reminder that inclusion is not optional — it’s essential. Today we celebrate the contributions, talents and strengths of people with disability — and reaffirm our commitment to inclusion, access, and respect.

People with disability are leaders, carers, creators, workers, advocates, and community builders. Yet barriers to access and opportunity remain.

The colour purple represents dignity, visibility, and strength. It’s a reminder to stand in solidarity, spark conversations, and champion a more inclusive community for all. At TeamHEALTH, we are committed to listening, learning, and removing those barriers — so that all people, regardless of ability, feel supported and empowered.

Disability inclusion isn’t just a day — it’s an everyday practice.
