Our Psychosocial Support Remote Team attended Create and Evaluate - Facilitation Skills Training delivered by the MH AOD Workforce Project Team last week. Our remote team is lucky to be a part of this initiative that strengthens and supports the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander MHAOD workforce across the Greater Darwin and Big Rivers Regions.

The MHAOD Workforce Project focuses on recognising the unique strengths of the workforce, identifying areas for growth, and delivering training tailored to their needs. By working closely with NGOs and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff delivering MHAOD and SEWB services, the project aims to build capability, strengthen community‑led care, and contribute to Closing the Gap Priority Reform Two.

🌼 Ladybird Program in Katherine 🌼
After months of planning, collaboration and care, we’re proud to introduce a new transitional housing program in Katherine for women and children who need a place of healing and recovery following the trauma associated with family and domestic violence, or for women who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness.

We are working closely with specialist providers in Katherine to accept referrals to medium-term accommodation designed to create space for recovery, choice and rebuilding.

Referring providers are instrumental to the success of this program, with TeamHEALTH providing practical tenancy support, connections to wrap-around services, and psycho-social mental health support within a shared community setting, with funding support the purchases of homes from the Australian Government, The Treasury.

Jawoyn man, Lazarus Manbulloo, Manager of the Strongbala Minds Walk In Talk In Space, supported the Cultural Leaders from Djilpin Arts in Wugularr to formally and traditionally open the new Lady Bird Space.

Ladybird is about safety, dignity and new beginnings, and we’re excited to see it grow alongside the Katherine community 🐞🌱

Today is National Apology Day.
A day to remember the National Apology delivered in 2008, and to reflect on the harm caused by past laws and policies, particularly to the Stolen Generations.

It is also a day to recognise the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to remind ourselves that reconciliation is ongoing work.

At TeamHEALTH, we are committed to reconciliation that goes beyond words, grounded in listening, learning, cultural safety and action in our everyday work.
Today, and every day, we recommit to walking together with respect and care.
🖤💛❤️ 💙💚🤍

🌿 Building understanding. Sharing stories. Creating connection. 🌿
As part of our Two Ways Mentoring Program, we’re currently delivering an 8-week workshop series, Understanding Workplace Culture, in partnership with Melaleuca Australia, supporting people as they resettle in Australia.

This week’s session focused on cultural awareness, literacy and responsiveness, facilitated by our First Nations Lead, Nancy Doolah. Through an activity called the Reconciliation Tree, Nancy shared the history of the Australian First Nations movement and the importance of reconciliation.

The participants, who are from South America, engaged deeply in the conversation. The session was interpreted into Spanish by Two Ways Coordinator, Astrid Garcia, ensuring stories, context and meaning were accessible to everyone.

With a strong mental health and wellbeing lens, this 8-week course is about more than workplace culture, it’s about belonging, understanding, and connection 🌱
