This thinking distortions gets us in all sorts of trouble with making assumptions about what we think other people are meaning and taking things personally that don't actually exist. Its good to check in an make sure our assumptions are correct. One way to do this is buy saying When you did ___________ I took that to mean _________, is that correct. This will give the other person the chance to tell you what was really going on. It takes courage but it opens up the channels of communication and starts to reframe our reality.
