We have now opened enrolments for our Hanen Program 2018.

This program provides parents with training and evidence-based strategies to assist and guide the development of their child’s life communication skills.

The ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ program established by the world-leading Hanen Centre in Toronto, Canada, is conducted by our two Hanen certified Speech Pathologists from Brindabella Hearing & Speech Centre.

The course will be held at our Bruce clinic, commencing on Wednesday 8 August and runs for 11 weeks from 5:00 - 7:30 PM Wednesdays.

We have received positive feedback from previous groups on the overall success of the Hanen Program.

Does your child need assistance with their social language skills?

Registrations are now open for term 2 of our Social Skills Program. The Program is scheduled every Thursday afternoon during the ACT school term by certified Speech-Language Pathologists.

The Program commences on Thursday 8 May from 3:30pm – 5:00pm. This will be located at our Bruce Clinic.

Children and young adults aged 9+ experiencing social
language difficulties can participate in this program to improve their skills with:

- Listening,
- Reading body language and understanding emotions,
- Having meaningful interactions with peers, and
- Helping them meet and make friends, as the program is group based.

Our speech pathologist Team Leader, Sarah Cording, has a new app she recommends for children wanting to develop their literacy skills.

The app is called, ‘Oz Phonics’ and it has a range of activities that assist children with their literacy skills

It is a simple, engaging and effective program that utilises evidence based techniques to support a child’s reading and spelling development. It starts from simple sound identification tasks and continues on to develop their reading and spelling in short vowels and blends.

This app range that has four levels, starting at a level for pre-schoolers. It also supports American, Australian, British and New Zealand accents.

Feel free to contact your speech pathologist for ways you could use this app with your child.
