full of days that asked for more
than I thought I could give

I’ve just learned I’m nominated in the NSW Community Hero category of the NSW Women of the Year Awards. ⭐️

The NSW Community Hero Award “shines a light on the accomplishments of an extraordinary woman who works tirelessly to contribute to the prosperity of those in her local community.” To me, even being considered in this category is an honour.

The awards are an initiative of Women NSW, the lead NSW Government agency responsible for improving the lives of all women in NSW by driving equality through policy, innovation and collaboration. Their purpose is to promote gender equality and advance the social, economic and political status of women and girls of all cultures, ages and backgrounds.

Community is about showing up and contributing. A huge part of that has been my work as an Ambassador, Trainer & Spokesperson over the years for various charities including The Fred Hollows Foundation, Dementia Australia, Kiss Goodbye to MS, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Action Aid Australia & more. I’m so grateful to these organisations for including me in their endeavours and giving me the chance to contribute to their vital work.

Finalists will be announced in February 2026, with winners celebrated during NSW Women’s Week in March. Whatever happens next, I already feel proud and thankful for this nomination… 💖

I’ve got a solid lineup of kilometres to tackle for The Fred Hollows Foundation as Ambassador for Fred’s Big Run and, while it’ll test me, it’s also exactly what drives me! IT STARTS TODAY! 💥 AND YOU CAN STILL SIGN UP FOR FRED’S BIG RUN NOW! ✏️

35km - 3rd August - The Bloody Long Walk
21.1km - 24th August - Beach to Beach Half Marathon
42.2km - 31st August - Sydney Marathon Major

Fred’s Big Run is an inspiring virtual challenge starting August 1 and is accessible to all fitness levels & abilities! Simply choose your challenge distance (50km, 100km, or 150km) and run or walk throughout August, while helping raise funds and awareness for people living with avoidable blindness. Fred Hollows’ dream was to live in a world where no one was needlessly blind, so let’s honour his memory together. 🏃‍♀️

The Reward? The stories we’ll share on the journey, the resilience I’ll need to draw on, and knowing I’m making a difference for causes that matter deeply to me. I’m committed, even when some days 10km feels tougher than 20, because I believe in the impact we can make together. 🙌

So if you see me around work during August, I might be a little sore or exhausted, no doubt still smiling - nonetheless please pull me up a chair & let me sit down… 😂
