Our Story
Hilot Healing has been practiced in the Philippines for centuries, long before the Islands were colonised. It has been known that the gift of Hilot Healing is passed down from an Elder to the generation after them. I am forever thankful for the Spirit and the knowledge passed through lineage. My Grandmother whom we call Nanay, Nanay’s brother Papa Isko, their Mother & my Great Grandmother Lola Dora, were all practicing Hilot during their lifetime. From a very young age, I can remember practicing Hilot on my Dad to relieve his headaches and neck pains. Growing up, whenever I am unwell, my Grandmother would take me to visit the local Hilot to assist in getting rid of my ‘unwellness’. When I came to live in Australia, life happened and I didn’t revisit being a Hilot again until a turning point in my life.
I can recall a few episode of what I now know as migraine, as early as 5 years of age. Those migraine episodes would come more frequently as I got older. After recovering from migraine episodes, my immune system would be so weak, that I would constantly get hay fever! Although the medications prescribed to me would numb the pain, the effect made me lethargic and unable to function properly in my daily routine.
As I sought to heal myself from the conditions that would bring my immune system down, I found a Hilot practitioner who lived 66 kilometers away from where I lived then. I would trek the 2-hour public transport to receive treatments from her. After a while I learned to apply the same Hilot techniques on myself, and I realised how freeing it is to know how to heal myself! I set myself on a journey to learn as much knowledge as I can, invest time, hone the skill and integrate alternative & holistic therapies as a life choice. For many years now, I’ve had the freedom to share the gift with those who seek to heal themselves.
Hilot Healing has opened up many life‐changing experiences for me. It is my wish that you, too can tap into the energies that will assist you in transforming your Spirit, your mind, your body!
