HYROX Melbourne is coming in hot, and if you’re serious about shaving seconds or minutes off your time it’s time to get scientific about your prep!

Here’s a glimpse into the Hyrox specific testing protocol .hp which shines a light on athletes’ underlying physical power and muscular endurance.

The protocol assesses your countermovement - jump replicating wall balls and dumbbell thrusters, a squat jump - replicating the up phase in a burpee transition as well as looking at explosiveness & reactivity across the calf / achilles complex, which may improve running efficiency.

By addressing any underlying deficits in these areas , you’ll leave no stone unturned!

Headaches and migraines can become very debilitating. They can affect concentration, mood, sleep, and even day-to-day activities. While there are many possible causes, one area that’s often overlooked is the neck.

Neck-related headaches, or in physio terms - cervicogenic headaches, occur when stiffness, muscle tension, or joint irritation in the upper neck refer pain up into the head. Even migraines and tension-type headaches can be aggravated by muscle tightness or poor movement patterns around the neck and shoulders. That’s where physiotherapy can often play a helpful role.

Our latest blog explains how the neck can contribute to headaches, how Physio can help and ultimately how not all headaches are the same!

It’s important to note we work closely with GPs and other healthcare professionals, but that treatment can be a very effective part of your management plan.

Reducing pain and making a full recovery from any niggle, injury or surgery will progress through phases.
☝🏽Early on, treatment is used to controll swelling, alleviate joint stiffness or desensitise angry structures - allowing for quick return to usual daily tasks.
🙌🏽 Later stage, prescriptive exercises are needed to restore optimal function of the injured part, and body as a whole - allowing for return to higher order tasks, work and sport.
