The new Pedorthic Footwear Standards are the result of a strong multidisciplinary collaboration—bringing together pedorthists, podiatrists, and academic experts in lower limb health.

This shared effort highlights the importance of working across professions to improve the quality, safety, and consistency of pedorthic (medical-grade) footwear in Australia.

We’re grateful for the support of the organisations that formally endorsed the Standards:

We’re proud to share that the Pedorthic Footwear Standards have now been released.

Developed by the Pedorthic Association of Australia (PAA), the Standards outline the minimum requirements for professional pedorthic footwear practice and provide a shared reference point for practitioners, referrers, funders and policy stakeholders.

We invite stakeholders across the sector to explore the Standards and their practical implications.

We're delighted to introduce Katrin Wegener, who will be hosting Pedorthics Integrated: Solutions in every step.

Katrin began her career in Germany in 1994, training as an orthopaedic shoemaker and orthotic specialist, later becoming a state-certified Podiatrist. Since moving to Australia in 2009, she has qualified as an Australian Certified Pedorthist, contributed to national training and certification, and presented at conferences worldwide.

Today, Katrin leads the profession as PAA President and continues her successful clinical practice. We're excited to have her guiding this year's conference!
