These are the “non needle” treatment tools in my clinic. Have a watch and see that there are so many options. For children it’s nothing like an adults experience with acupuncture. That’s why I run separate clinic days for kids and adults.

My last post about daycares was my biggest one yet (suprise!) so here goes for schools 🍀 My personal favourite style of education is Montessori. Why- the learning is child centred and done at their pace and involves their interests. So much of what I believe are ADHD symptoms are just those of disinterest. It is hands on, the environment holds and sets the tone for their self directed learning. Just incredible! Especially for the practical learner like me. My second favourite is Steiner. Now if you have a creative, musical and artistic child I think this is certainly worth looking into. Interestingly the child development phases that Rudolf Steiner really align with Chinese Medicine. The biodynamic gardening, woodwork, hand crafts etc also mean the desk time is minimal.

When I was in Perth city recently I saw even more day care centres that had popped up. Each time I go I notice the growth within this area. These day care establishments are MASSIVE! And Wow wee it must now be big business. It’s our job as parents and care givers to ensure our children are safe, happy and thriving. So please consider the following. What are the qualifications and experience of the people caring for your child. Are you able to go in and observe to get a “feel” of the routines and flow of the day. Is the quality of care inside as appealing as the external. How long have the staff worked in this centre. Does the space have healthy nourishing food, is it well ventilated and open into outdoor spaces for your child to explore. Lastly and most importantly does your body and observation of your child say “yes!” ?

I’m lucky to enough to have 3 treatment tables in my space upstairs at Element Health. On one side is 2 tables closer to each other. This is where I treat a parent and child or siblings at the same time. Whoever wants longer goes first and I move between to the tables. Here I have 2 brothers just hanging out getting the treatments done.

Keep it clean and keep it green. There’s nothing that tests the body and health like Halloween 🎃

This week was big in so many ways. Firstly my service to the community and others far out weighed my self care and hence- I hit the wall- hard. I have a few key recharging things like- dogs, nature, sleep and tea on the porch with my dear husband. The other is NLP therapy. I have been seeing Ernest for 8 years or so and I’m still growing. Get this…… I had a patient say to me this week “Holly my problem is not your problem, it’s my problem” Cue jaw on the floor……. I’ve always thought everyone’s problem is MY problem and my job/worth is to fix it. Better get back to the therapists chair and do some more unpacking 😂

I am so lucky to have heard time and time again that my little patients have gone home and played “Dr Holly” Children learn by observation, play and practice and I feel so privileged to share the importance of health through play. Here in this photo I have older child that can help me with their treatment. They love to have a turn and I love having many arms 😂

It hasn’t happened often in the last 16 years because I try to be the vessel and hold space for my patients to deep dive into their own feelings. But today got me…. 😭 And I would call it a “conscious” cry. Because sometimes it’s appropriate to go all in and sit in the dark with someone in need. What an honour to be invited into that space. 💜

Glue ear Part 3. Snot rockets and blowing bubbles. Prevent the mucous from taking up residence in the ear by blowing it out the front door!! A swim in a warm pool does this just nicely. If you have a bath, sit with them, give them some goggles and put sinky toys on the bottom. This warm water, face in and bubbles will help to move the mucous out of the eustacian tube.
