Today is World OT Day, followed by OT Week from 27 October to 2 November.
OT Week is an annual celebration of the extraordinary impact occupational therapists make every day.
This year’s theme, Occupational Therapy in Action, invites us to highlight the creativity, problem-solving, and compassion at the heart of OT practice.

It’s time to break down the stigma around child psychology. 🧠💭

Too many families still face common misconceptions around children’s mental health, when in fact reaching out for support is a strong, proactive approach to parenting.

The truth? Therapy isn’t a sign that something’s broken – it’s a sign that you care. Showing our children that their emotions are important and their experiences are valid is a powerful step forward, not back.

Swipe through to see 4 common taboos about child psychology and why they’re not true.

Early movement matters. Physiotherapy plays a key role in supporting a child’s development from the very beginning. 🤸

At Kites Children's Therapy, we’re committed to helping children reach their full potential through early intervention and personalised support.

Our dedicated team of Physiotherapists work with your family to develop strategies for positioning, carrying and encouraging your child’s overall motor development.

Do you notice any of these signs in your child?

Week 2025 is here – join us in celebrating the rich cultures, histories, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders. 💪🧒

At Kites Children’s Therapy, we see that strength every day in the determination of a child learning to communicate, or in the confidence built through play. We are committed to nurturing the next generation, ensuring our young leaders reach their fullest potential.

Because when we invest in our children, we honour generations past, and help build the legacy of those to come. ❤️💛🖤

Check out our fresh new face! 💅 What do you think?

Yesterday, our Derwent Park building signage was installed by the legends at Signarama Hobart. Making it easier for families to find us and bringing a splash of colour to the neighbourhood.

Come take a look next time you're passing by! 👋

🎒🦶 Ready, set, go!
Preschoolers (3-5 years) are constantly on the move - running, jumping, climbing, and building the skills that set them up for a lifetime of confident movement.

Our Physios work with preschoolers to support healthy development through fun, age-appropriate movement strategies that promote coordination, balance, and strength.

🌈 Key preschool milestones:
🔹 Running with control and turning corners
🔹 Climbing ladders and jungle gyms
🔹 Jumping with both feet repeatedly
🔹 Walking on tiptoes
🔹 Throwing overarm at a target
🔹 Riding a tricycle
🔹 Balancing on one foot
🔹 Catching a ball with hands
🔹 Skipping on alternate feet

Is your toddler on the move, but maybe a little wobbly? 🤸‍♀️
From wobbly steps to confident climbs, toddlerhood (1-3 years) is a time of big movement and even bigger milestones!

Our expert paediatric physiotherapists help toddlers build strength, coordination, and confidence through every stage of their physical development.

🌟 Key milestones in toddlerhood:
🔹 Walking smoothly and independently
🔹 Attempting to run
🔹 Jumping in place with both feet (around 18–24 months)
🔹 Climbing furniture safely
🔹 Balancing while walking and running
🔹 Kicking a ball forward

If your little one is skipping, struggling, or slow to meet these milestones, our physios are here to help with fun, play-based therapy that gets results. 💪
