Jazz and blues have always gone hand in hand. You can’t really talk about one without the other. The blues gave jazz its feel—its swing, its phrasing, its way of telling real stories. From the very beginning, it’s been the common language beneath the music.

Today, on International Jazz Day, we’re lifting the curtain just a little.

We’re thrilled to tease the 2026 artist line‑up for Devonport Jazz and Devonport Blues & Roots as we head into the 25th edition of Devonport Jazz.

🌟 National Volunteer Week | 18–24 May 🌟
The Tasmanian Training Consortium in partnership with Volunteering Tasmania, will be running a series of free online professional learning webinars and information sessions throughout National Volunteer Week. These sessions support both volunteers and the organisations that work with them across Tasmania - but are open to everyone.

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme, Your Year to Volunteer, recognises the important contribution volunteers make in our communities and encourages more people to get involved in ways that suit their interests, skills and availability.

🌿 Remember 2024's amazing 'Universe of Paper'?

🌿 The good news is that Steph is back to lead another series of community workshops!

🌿 The scale might not be quite as grand as our 2024 adventure (that might have been a once-in-a-lifetime happening), but the outcome will still be awe-inspiring.

🌿 The intent and approach is the same....

✅ Accessible
✅ Creativity at each participant's level
🎉 Fun!
🎉 Beginners welcome

🌿 The vertical garden panels created during the workshop will decorate the foyer of the paranaple arts centre for the Paper on Skin™ gala on the 3rd October.

📅 Bookings are available for the first three workshops, but there will be more dates coming.

Home Hill – Fireside Chats

Join us at Home Hill this Heritage Month for a thoughtfully curated series of Tuesday morning Fireside Chats.
Across four weekly sessions, these conversations will explore the theme of Change, bringing together a diverse range of voices, stories, and perspectives. From reflections on our evolving community to personal experiences and broader social change, each session offers a unique opportunity to engage with our heritage in meaningful ways.

We invite you to slow down, listen and connect as we explore the people and ideas behind our region’s evolving story. Enjoy tea and coffee in the welcoming surroundings of Home Hill as we share conversations that illuminate Tasmania’s past, present and future.

While the fire may be virtual, the sense of warmth, connection, and shared experience is very real.
