Last week our lifestyle staff took the EWHS bus to Watchem to look at the new silo art there, and Watchem Lake. They then went onto Birchip. Of course in Birchip a visit to Sharp's Bakery is compulsory, for afternoon tea. Sharp's hospitality as always was fantastic. Then onto Birchip's silo art too. Time for home then via Corack, while pointing out Bud & Kath's Campbell's farm on the way past. Another successful social outing.

The staff have been busy preparing Riverside Lounge at Goodwin Village for the residential residents and staff Christmas party on later today. The kitchen staff are currently preparing a wonderful Christmas lunch for everyone. We may even get a visit from Santa following the meal?

On our monthly bus trip for November we ventured to Murtoa. Mick drove the bus for the crew. We had a beautiful afternoon tea at The Orchard Cafe. The 2 lovely staff there served us with fresh scones jam/cream & jelly cakes. All residents had a lovely time chatting and enjoying each other’s company. The staff of course were able to sample the cooking too.

Before heading home, we drove around Murtoa, looked at the mosaic tiled lizard in the Main Street and other attractions. The residents sat back and enjoyed the scenery coming home via Rupanyup.

On Thursday September 4th Mick, Jodie & Carlee took the residents on a bus trip to St. Arnaud. While there, they had a look at the silo art, and street murals. They also had a drive around the sports precinct. The highlight was a stopover at the Shire Café where they had delicious food. (The food stop with the baked goodies is always a big hit) They viewed the Queen Mary Gardens across the road before heading home.

Goodwin Village hosted a 'stop over' of the Melbourne Cup Tour that went around Donald on Sunday 31st August 2025. We thank Daryl Warren, Jodie Hollis, and Donald 2000 for including our organisation in the event. Staff members Trish Anderson and Shristie Rimal prepared Goodwin Village for the day and ensured the residents and staff, had the opportunity to hear a presentation about the Cup, and the opportunity to hold it, if they wanted. Joe McGrath, Joe Agresta, and Simon Ogden the Tour entourage ensured the visit ran smoothly.

Goodwin Village is having an ‘open for inspection’ of our 2 new Units in Richardson Heights Units 39 & 40 as well as existing Unit 34. This will be tomorrow Sunday August 24th from 8.00 am to 10.00 am. All 3 Units have people that have secured occupancy to them, and will be moving in soon. This however is an opportunity to have a look at the type of retirement housing Goodwin Village provides.
We are providing a cup of tea/coffee and biscuits at Unit 34. (The power is on there) All welcome.
