๐Ÿ“From Cairns to Fiji

Meet Ethan Pacifico, a final-year Medical Laboratory Science student from James Cook University, currently undertaking his clinical placement right here in Fiji under the Fiji National University. Originally from New Zealand and now based in Australia, Ethan shared how his time at the FNU has been nothing short of amazing.

โ€œIโ€™ve been overwhelmed by how open, warm and welcoming everyone is. The professionalism Iโ€™ve seen at both the university and the hospital is just incredible,โ€ Ethan shared.

He was particularly inspired by the resourcefulness and passion of FNU staff and students, adding that the commitment shown to learning and excellence was โ€œvery inspirational.โ€

Ethan also had the unique opportunity to participate in a historic 2-day Haematology workshopโ€”a first of its kind for Fiji, which left a lasting impression.

โ€œIt really gave me a deeper appreciation of the privileges we have back home and reminded me of the importance of sharing knowledge and building stronger connections across the Pacific.โ€

Weโ€™re proud to host students like Ethan and continue to strengthen partnerships that elevate education, healthcare, and community impact across the region.
