A big welcome to Dr Ben Griffiths, who commenced practice at DMC early February. Ben graduated from Western Sydney University with First Class Honours and a University Medal, before going on to complete a Master of Public Health at the University of Sydney. He completed his internship and residency at John Hunter Hospital, and has worked extensively at metropolitan and regional hospitals, including rotations in paediatrics, emergency medicine, and general surgery.

Dr Ben is interested in all aspects of general practice, and aims to provide a friendly, collaborative, and informed approach to healthcare. He can perform skin checks and minor procedures.

Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time at cafes, playing tennis with friends, or reading.

Dr Griffiths is a private billing GP and is available by appointment on Thursdays, Fridays, and some Saturdays.

We're delighted to introduce Dr Justin Clark, who commenced practice at DMC last week. Justin has a strong interest in paediatrics, cardiology/heart health, general medicine and sports injuries.

Dr Clark has a warm, collaborative, and professional approach. He strongly values active listening, mutual respect, and knowledge
sharing when developing strategies to help patients with any health issue and achieve their health goals.
Justin Studied Medicine at the University of Wollongong after a career in occupational health. He then worked at Gosford and Wyong Hospital
in Cardiology, Paediatrics, Endocrinology, Emergency, Orthopaedics and General Medicine.

He has a strong interest in paediatrics, cardiology/heart health, general medicine and sports injuries.

Outside of work Justin loves the outdoors and is a keen runner, swimmer, and enjoys hiking, reading, golf, rugby and music.

Welcome to Dr Idy Deng, who we are delighted to announce she has commenced practice at DMC last week. Idy is available by appointment on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Saturdays.

Dr Deng is passionate about general practice and holistic health care. Her special interests are in mental health, complex medical care and women's health. She enjoys patient centred care where optimising the patient's health and wellbeing are the top priorities.

Idy has her FPS certification which allows her to provide extensive counselling sessions. Her special interest mental health areas include trauma therapy, depression/anxiety and professional coaching. She is also tri-lingual allowing her to consult in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Dr Deng was previously a B Commerce and B Psychology graduate from the University of Sydney before completing her medical degree at University of Newcastle. She completed her internship and residency at Bankstown/Campbeltown/St Vincent's Hospitals.

When she is not working or studying she enjoys hiking, scuba diving and indoor rock climbing. She especially enjoys hiking with her two daughters to the local swimming holes.

Dear DMC patients & community.

From the 1st of November, you may have seen media coverage and social media posts about GPs “returning to bulk billing”.

We would like to be upfront and honest and let you know why there will not be any changes to the current billing policies of each individual GP at DMC Medical Centre.

At DMC Medical Centre, all of the doctors are independent practitioners (other than registrars), who have their own individual billing policies. Any that were private billing prior to the 1st of November have elected to remain this way. They have individually made this decision so that they can continue to:
- Have a longer consult – generally 15 minutes or more – so that they can listen to you and explain things to you
- Continue to provide comprehensive and continuous care by GPs that know and care about you
- Provide safe and comprehensive medicine — not rushed care
- DMC itself can remain locally owned by two of our long term GPs, employing locals who mostly live in the area and share our passion for caring for our community
- Provide quality equipment, consumables, timely servicing and maintenance, to ensure confidence and safe usage

Please note that our registrar GPs at DMC will continue to privately bill as well.

We understand that there are cost of living pressures and we are conscious about ensuring general practice care is affordable but also at a rate that allows us to be remunerated appropriately and for the practice (via service fees) to be able to pay for our staff at a fair rate, ensuring sufficient and well trained staffing so as to be able to best assist you when needed.

The current Medicare fee (including rebate) does not cover the true cost of providing quality medical care for all. We would strongly encourage you to talk to your local federal member if you find that the Medicare rebate does not meet your needs. Please note that the local federal member for Reid is Miss Sally Sitou MP Ph (02) 9715 7444.

It was so much fun being part of the Renwick Street Halloween Festival today! Our resident creative team at DMC really enjoyed being the face painters for the event. We were totally impressed by the amazing effort you all went to, to dress up & scare everyone! A massive thanks to everyone involved to put this brilliant event together - it’s a huge amount of work & very much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏

A warm welcome to our newest GP - Dr Sophie Armbrister, who commenced practice at DMC today.

Here's a little about Sophie...

Dr Sophie Armbrister is a mixed billing GP Registrar who completed her medical degree with distinction at Griffith University, following a Medical Science degree at Sydney University. She has worked in both metropolitan and regional hospitals across Australia, with broad experience in paediatrics, emergency medicine, and obstetrics & gynaecology.

Sophie is passionate about continuity of care and building long-term relationships with her patients. Her warm, bubbly nature helps create a safe, welcoming space where patients feel truly heard and supported. She values holistic, patient-centred care and aims to make every consultation informative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual—where no question is too small and no concern is overlooked.

Outside the clinic, Sophie loves travelling, music, board game nights, and getting outdoors—whether it’s hiking, playing tennis, or chasing thrills at a theme park. Her background in drama and teaching fuels her creativity and helps her connect with people from all walks of life.

Sophie will be working Monday through to Thursday and some Saturdays, and is available by appointment.

Edit: We have now completed our server changeover and everything is back up and running smoothly. To all our patients that were in contact with us over the last few days via appointments or over the phone, thankyou for your patience and for bearing with us during the transition! We are all very grateful to our wonderful IT guru, and happy to be on the other side of the change over now!

We will be completing a long awaited and much needed server changeover this weekend, and will be taking some of our services offline just until Monday.

All online appointment booking services will not be available from 5pm today until midday Monday, as well as online script and referral requests. This includes both through our website and HotDoc.

We will also be closing at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday 26th July) but opening as usual on Sunday and Monday.

All other services will be working as usual, and appointments during this time can be made over the phone by calling our friendly receptionists on 02 9819 6666. We apologise if it takes a little longer to get through over the phone including on Monday morning, but we will have all hands on deck as much as possible to minimise any time spent on hold waiting to get through to us.

Thanks so much in advance for your support and patience, and we look forward to enjoying a much more speedy computer system once its fully up and running again next week! 😊
