👋 | Meet Eliza Whiteley from Whiteley Optometry
October is Small Business Month, and we’re celebrating by highlighting local small businesses from across our region all month long.
Originally from Geurie, Eliza moved away to study Optometry at Deakin in Geelong, but knew she wanted to return home after completing her studies to support her local community through eye care.
Whiteley Optometry was established in 2024, following the purchase of patient records and equipment from Max Astri Optometrists. We offer comprehensive, high-quality eye care with a strong focus on prevention and patient education.
Eliza said “When the opportunity came up to purchase the patient records and equipment from George & Matilda - which had previously belonged to Max Astri - it just made sense. Max and his team had built something truly special in Dubbo over many years, and I saw an opportunity to carry that legacy forward with a renewed focus on personalised eye health and patient care. ”
“I’ve been incredibly lucky to welcome some of Max’s former staff into the Whiteley Optometry team, which has helped create a sense of continuity and familiarity for our patients. It really feels like the right path, and I’m grateful to be able to keep caring for the people of this region.”
“Being a small business owner allows me to truly connect with my community and make a meaningful impact. One of the great joys of being a small, nimble team is that we’re not tied to the mentality of ‘this is the way we’ve always done it.’ We have the freedom to try new things, pivot quickly, and tailor what we do to better serve our patients.” Eliza said.
