Extremely proud of the participants who showed up earlier today, they all blew the Term 1 goal away with a few weeks to spare. Everyone one of them done between 50-80 calf raises and they did it with ease. Congratulations Lores, Dorothy, Dianne, Pat, Anne, Evelyn (Aunty), Chris, Yvonne, Wendy, and of course the birthday girl Judy. We are so proud of our girls.👏🏻👏🏻
As we age, go through injuries and illnesses we can lose a bit of strength in our calf muscles (gastrocnemius) called sarcopenia (age related), muscle atrophy or muscle wasting. This can be problematic because we rely on our calf muscles for things like standing up, climbing stairs, taking the load when we climb in the car, walking and to help keep us upright, hopefully preventing falls. A strong healthy calf muscle can improve your standing and walking stamina and make day to day tasks so much easier on you.
Remember folks if we dont use it, we lose it, so next time you think about taking the lift rather than the stairs, give the stairs a try, we know you can do it,….you already proved it!
