The Head of the TGA and Australia’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) have issued a joint statement reaffirming the safety of Australia’s vaccines.

Vaccination is one of the most successful and cost-effective public health measures worldwide. It remains one of the most effective ways to protect people from many serious infectious diseases.

Over the past 50 years, childhood vaccines have prevented 154 million deaths globally, the vast majority in children under five.

Parents seeking reassurance about the health decisions they make for their children deserve clear, evidence-informed advice to support those decisions. Parents and carers are encouraged to discuss any questions with their trusted healthcare professionals.

Mental Health Week is a time of reflection on how we can improve, not only our own lives but more importantly, the impact we can have on others.

I would like to take this moment to reflect on the past 3 months of my cancer journey.

Firstly, I’ve had positive news last week that treatment is on the right track. Amen!!

Secondly, I acknowledge the privilege of receiving the most amazing prayer support and I want to thank everyone who has been praying for myself and my family. It is the most humbling of thoughts to know that I have hundreds of people throughout my community Stradbroke Pharmacy Redlands Church of Christ Silverdale Church of Christ. And many more. Thank you, the impact your supporter has had is unmeasurable. 🙏

Thirdly, I recommend this free app (it may not be to everyone’s likes) but it has had the most profound positive influence for my mental health through this journey. Lectio 365

So in the spirit of mental health week, take the time to make some real connections in your circle. And also take time for yourself.

We always advise caution in buying pharmaceuticals from overseas websites. They are not regulated by the TGA and you don’t know what you are really getting 😳

⚠️Safety concerns over imported melatonin products⚠️

We’re issuing a safety advisory regarding imported unregistered melatonin products following testing by TGA Laboratories.

The results show significant discrepancies in the actual melatonin content compared to the labelled amounts. One product contained more than 400% of the labelled content and another contained no melatonin at all.

This variability in melatonin content raises serious safety concerns for consumers, including the risk of hospitalisation and accidental overdose, especially in children.

Parents are strongly encouraged to consult their child’s treating medical practitioner regarding the use of melatonin, especially for children with seizure disorders as it may increase seizure frequency.

If you have any unregistered melatonin products, we encourage you to stop using it immediately and take any remaining items to your local pharmacy for safe disposal.

Melatonin is a prescription-only medicine in Australia, except in specific circumstances for adults.
