Dear women of any age, but in particular peri menopause and menopause women. Many of you would have grown up being led to believe that lifting heavy weights make you "bulky". I've had a number of body building women as patients and they all the same thing. Getting bulky is HARD. It's counting every calorie, every lick of olive oil, weighing every chicken breast, measuring every macro, eating protein so much you think you're going to spew. Yes they lift heavy weights but It's also knowing when to increase your calories, then when to eat in a deficit so low that you shred for weeks in the lead up to a competition whilst still trying to workout every day and not faint nor binge afterwards. They live and breathe this lifestyle. Us mere mortal women don't have the time for this, but we all have the time to lift heavy weights 4 -5 times a week. You won't get bulky. You'll build bone density as you build dense muscular tissue so you don't wake up one day with brittle bones, have a fall and break your hip. Please start lifting serious weights, if you don't know where to start invest in a good personal trainer who will guide you in proper technique, progressive overload and nutrition.

This is a good example of what we mean by a "Spleen friendly salad". A salad that has mainly cooked ingredients is more easily digested and less taxing on Spleen Qi. In Chinese medicine the Spleen is the most important organ for digestion and it has a major role in turning Qi (from digested food) into Blood. This is particularly important for women who have bleeding issues like heavy periods, or prolonged bleeding (to name a few issues).

We're excited to introduce Katalin, who has joined the Point Specifics family!

Katalin is a psychotherapist and counsellor offering a warm and supportive space for women and men navigating life’s challenges — from the uncertainty of fertility journeys and the grief of loss, to the weight of anxiety or the transitions that come with different stages of life.

Her approach is compassionate and collaborative. She draws on principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), existential therapy, and body-based practices to support emotional healing, resilience, and a stronger connection with the self.

She works with grief, burnout, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and trauma that continues to affect daily life. Katalin also has a special interest in women’s mental health, including IVF, peri/menopause, and the balancing of relationships, identity, and wellbeing.

She holds a postgraduate Master of Counselling and is a Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association. Katalin brings both professional expertise and a deep respect for each person’s story. Her focus is not on “fixing,” but on creating a safe, relaxed environment where growth, healing, and self-understanding can unfold at a pace that feels right for each client.

Outside of work, Katalin is an arts lover who enjoys theatre, concerts, and galleries — and never says no to good coffee, pastries, or chocolate.

🌿In Chinese medicine, dis-ease can come from the outside in, or the inside out.
🌿One way in which dis-ease can start from the inside is by having dysregulated emotions.
🌿Traditional Chinese medicine speaks of the 5 emotions which reside in 5 different organs. Each emotion can cause disease when not kept in check. Ultimately however, all emotions stem from the heart.
🌿Having a hobby which you love, not necessarily that you are "good at", not one that you do because it fulfills a monetary goal, but simply one that makes your heart feel less heavy and more happy, is medicine.

Pick up from Kellyville this Sunday 22nd or Monday 23rd June.

🌿FISHER & PAYKEL 7kg vented dryer. $300
Excellent working condition. Cannot fault this machine.

🌿AEG 9kg front loader washing machine. $600. It needs a new inlet hose, because our one split when we were renovating. Other than that it's in excellent condition. Inlet hoses can be purchased online. I have loved this machine, it weighs the load and adjusts water and energy accordingly. It also has quick cycle settings and is large enough to wash doonas. (This machine normally retails for $2000).

🌿BEKO 10kg front loader washing machine $400. Excellent working condition. This machine has been excellent at washing everything from towels, to shirts, to delicates. (This machine normally retails for $1000).
