Is chiropractic pseudoscience?
Modern chiropractic care, as practised in Australia, is a regulated healthcare profession. Chiropractors complete university-level education in anatomy, physiology, diagnosis, radiology, and musculoskeletal management, and are registered under the national health practitioner framework.
Like many areas of healthcare, chiropractic has evolved over time. Today, most clinical practice focuses on the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those involving the spine, joints, muscles, and movement patterns.
Research in this area continues to grow, especially around topics such as low back pain, neck pain, and certain headache types. At the same time, it’s important to recognise that no healthcare profession addresses every condition — and good care involves appropriate assessment, clear communication, and referral when needed.
If you ever have questions about how chiropractic works, what it involves, or whether it’s suitable for your situation, asking your practitioner directly is encouraged.
Open discussion and informed decision-making are part of responsible healthcare.
