As we head into 2024…the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care released the Draft Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience Healthcare Module prior to the end of 2023.

This is an important up date for all hospitals and healthcare services across Australia as they will now need to demonstrate evidence on how they are reducing and meeting sustainability practises to help reduce their carbon footprint.

The plan is to have the module finalised by 2025 and some of the areas of focus are:
- Leadership
- Energy
- Water
- Chemicals
- Waste
- Transportation
- Food
- Pharmaceuticals
- Buildings and
- Purchasing

A “Real” versus a “Fake” Christmas tree?

As I attempt to make my Christmas more sustainable this year, I recently read an article about what’s sustainable…A “real” or “fake” Christmas tree?

To my surprise….a “real” Christmas tree came out on top as more sustainable. This was because despite a “fake” Christmas tree being my favourite word…”reusable”…it apparently takes 20 years for the fake to be more sustainable than a real Christmas tree.

So, whilst this year I have neither bought a real one or put up our fake Christmas tree (must hang onto it for another 13 years! 🤣)…the kids and I are going to attempt something even more sustainable than last year (p.s. we promise no wildlife was hurt in the making of our tree) to see how even more uniquely sustainable we can make our Christmas tree this year🎄♻️
