My name is Leanne de Groot & I am a certified medicinal and functional nutritional counsellor and movement coach based on the East Coast of NSW. I inspire and empower women to discover their own unique nutrition, exercise, passion, and capacity to live a beautiful life without rush … so that they can model this with confidence and knowledge to support all their nearest and dearest’s health & wellbeing and in doing so we can all thrive. My contribution is the union of my experience as a nutritionist, mindfulness, meditation & movement coach with a deep interest and education in behaviour and how it impacts a life worth living. It’s quite likely a gene that I inherited from my father. The lack of an off switch fuels me to squeeze as much into 24 hours as possible. This superfast world has created a certain pressure to keep up, to skip steps, to rush. However, I think there’s an awareness in us all that rushing isn't just about moving faster, rather, it's an overall frame of mind where our beliefs become our opponent, and we haven’t been given the teachings to find our way through this. Now as a grand-mère of a three-year-old, I’m even more determined to figure out how we can think long term in a short term world. Teaching women how to do things today that will make tomorrow and the next years happier, easier and healthier for ourselves and our children. Healthy doesn’t mean complicated. Even when we are pressed for time, it’s possible to prepare balanced meals, burn calories, to nurture our bodies both physically and emotionally. Social media shouts out the success and everything that others are doing and it creates this mounting pressure that we are not doing, we are not moving fast enough, as bosses, workers, mums, weekend warriors, friends, lovers, parents, siblings, or grandparents. We must be willing to step outside the pull of unhealthy and unhealthful cultural norms and make the critical space to do our meaningful thinking. Wherever we are, this is life—it’s happening right now, and I’ve decided that I am not going to rush through it and I invite you to join me today …

Hmm could my anxiety be literally stuck in my head... 🤯?

You know that feeling when your mind is racing, your thoughts are spiraling, and you feel like all your energy is trapped upstairs?

I’ve come across something that completely shifted my understanding of how our nervous system could potentially work.

It permeates with my love for ancient Ayurvedic wisdom. You may be aware that there’s an energy system called Apana Vata that governs how we eliminate - not just physical waste, but negative thoughts, emotions, and experiences too. When it’s out of whack, we literally get “clogged up” with unprocessed stuff that weighs us down and keeps us anxious.

The wild part? The fix isn’t what you’d expect.

It’s not about sitting still or trying to quiet your mind. It’s about giving your fight-or-flight response a physical outlet while literally draining that stuck energy downward.

I tried this ridiculously simple practice and could FEEL the buzzing energy in my head flowing down to my legs and feet. My nervous system actually started to chill out.

The best part? It takes less than 5 minutes and you can do it anywhere.

☕✨ Could your empty-stomach habit be hijacking your digestion?

👇 Read on to find out why your morning brew might be messing with your metabolism.

You love your coffee.
I get it — warm, bold, energising…
But what happens under the hood — particularly when it comes to digestion and protein breakdown.

Coffee (yes, even decaf) stimulates stomach acid. That’s good, right?
Well… yes and no.

Short-term? It can kickstart digestion.
Long-term? If you’re sipping black coffee all day on an empty stomach — especially first thing in the morning — it can actually overstimulate and deplete your digestive fire (what Ayurveda calls Agni 🔥).

And without strong Agni?
👉 Protein isn’t properly broken down.
👉 You feel bloated, heavy, or weirdly hungry and full.
👉 Energy crashes creep in, and weight can cling — especially around the middle.
👉 Your nervous system stays edgy, your gut sluggish.

Ask yourself:
Are those 2–4 cups of coffee getting you through the day... or wearing your body down?

Try this experiment:
🌿 Add a small breakfast before coffee
🥚 Prioritize protein after coffee
🌞 Replace your second cup with warm ginger tea

🌿 Protein Powder & the Quiet Erosion of Digestive Fire 🔥

Here’s a pattern I keep seeing—and maybe you’ve noticed it too:

In our younger years, our bodies feel invincible. We blend, shake, and sip our way through convenience...
And we seem to digest it all just fine.

But over time—especially with those daily scoops of pre-digested whey or plant protein powders—something begins to shift...

➡️ Gas.
➡️ Bloating.
➡️ A heavy belly even after a “light” smoothie.
➡️ And a growing struggle to break down a simple piece of fish or lentils.

Why? Because digestion is a living fire—it needs to be stoked and challenged to stay strong.
