Without priority access to fuel, funeral providers may be unable to bring loved ones into care or travel to cemeteries and crematoria, especially in regional and rural communities where distances are significant.

Grief is challenging enough on its own. Uncertainty about when families can say goodbye only adds further stress at an already difficult time.

Funerals Australia is continuing to advocate to State and Federal Ministers to ensure funeral services are recognised as essential in fuel contingency planning so families can continue to receive timely, dignified care when they need it most.

Join us in advocating for recognition of funeral services as essential in fuel priority planning.

Funeral directors travel significant distances every day to bring loved ones into care and support families through the funeral process. Reliable access to fuel is essential to ensure these services continue without disruption.

As the peak national body, Funerals Australia is advocating to State and Federal Ministers for funeral services to be recognised as an essential service in any fuel prioritisation arrangements, helping ensure families can continue to receive care when they need it most.

🤠 Boots & Buckles

Last night, the Funerals Australia National Convention seen delegates swap suits for boots and embrace the Western dress code at our convention dinner sponsored by InvoCare Memorial Parks & Gardens.

Cowboy hats, denim, fringe, and a whole lot of personality set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The atmosphere was electric, a perfect blend of fun, connection, and well-earned celebration.

From sideshow alley and dodgem cars to mini golf (thanks to Funeral Plan Management), the night was full of laughs, connection, and a little friendly competition.

A huge thank you to everyone who embraced the theme and made the night what it was.

Yeehaw!

The Funerals Australia National Convention is almost here!

Will you be joining us on 19-22 March 2026 for the funeral industry's flagship event?

Each year, members from across the country come together to learn from respected experts, share real-world experience, discuss challenges facing the sector and strengthen professional connections.

These gatherings support ongoing education, leadership and collaboration, all of which contribute to higher standards of care for families.

When someone dies, research shows that ceremony plays an important role in helping people process death. Seeing a coffin, hearing familiar music, sharing stories and gathering with others can provide clarity and meaning during grief.

These moments do not need to be elaborate. Simple rituals and shared presence can be enough.

Funerals create space for this. Do you agree?

Women contribute to funeral care in many ways, across many roles.

On International Women's Day, we recognise the women within Funerals Australia membership and across the sector who bring care, skill and leadership to this work, often without recognition.

From supporting families through grief, to leading teams, managing operations, educating others and advocating for better standards, their work is central to the profession.

Tag someone in the industry who deserves recognition. Let's celebrate them together.

There’s no single template for a funeral.

Some are traditional. Some look very different. Some are big gatherings, others are small and private. All of them are personal.

What matters is having the opportunity to pause, gather and say goodbye in a way that feels right. Everyone deserves that choice.

At Funerals Australia, we foster open conversations about how funerals, in whatever form they take, can bring healing and honour to those we love.

What kind of funeral would you like. Would it be traditional, or personalised?
