This week on the mat II The 4th Yama – Brahmacharya II
Brahmacharya is often translated as moderation, yet it reaches deeper than simply “doing less.” It invites us to steward our energy with intention, to be present with what nourishes and sustains us, and to choose wisely where we place our attention.
In our busy lives, it asks us to notice the pull of distraction, the scattering of energy, and the ways we overextend. It is not restriction, but devotion - devotion to steadiness, to vitality, and to what truly matters.
On the mat, Brahmacharya may show up as gentleness in movement, honouring your capacity, and finding balance between effort and ease. Off the mat, it may look like protecting your mornings, softening your evenings, saying no when needed, or conserving your energy for what enriches your life.
This practice is a reminder: our energy is sacred, our attention is powerful, and moderation allows both to flourish.
Here is a short invocation for you:
✨ Brahmacharya – The Yama of Wise Energy ✨
O Brahma, Keeper of Creative Energy
Guide us to gather, not scatter,
To move with intention, breathe with awareness,
And honour the sacred rhythm of our own life force
Let us act with moderation,
Choose with discernment,
And direct our energy toward what nourishes, sustains, and uplifts
In stillness and in movement,
May our practice become devotion
A conscious offering of body, mind, and spirit
From your Hearts to Yours...Namaste 🙌
