This week on the mat II The 4th Yama – Brahmacharya II

Brahmacharya is often translated as moderation, yet it reaches deeper than simply “doing less.” It invites us to steward our energy with intention, to be present with what nourishes and sustains us, and to choose wisely where we place our attention.

In our busy lives, it asks us to notice the pull of distraction, the scattering of energy, and the ways we overextend. It is not restriction, but devotion - devotion to steadiness, to vitality, and to what truly matters.

On the mat, Brahmacharya may show up as gentleness in movement, honouring your capacity, and finding balance between effort and ease. Off the mat, it may look like protecting your mornings, softening your evenings, saying no when needed, or conserving your energy for what enriches your life.

This practice is a reminder: our energy is sacred, our attention is powerful, and moderation allows both to flourish.

Here is a short invocation for you:

✨ Brahmacharya – The Yama of Wise Energy ✨

O Brahma, Keeper of Creative Energy
Guide us to gather, not scatter,
To move with intention, breathe with awareness,
And honour the sacred rhythm of our own life force

Let us act with moderation,
Choose with discernment,
And direct our energy toward what nourishes, sustains, and uplifts

In stillness and in movement,
May our practice become devotion
A conscious offering of body, mind, and spirit

From your Hearts to Yours...Namaste 🙌

Asteya - non-stealing.

This week we reflect on Asteya - often translated as non-stealing, but on the mat it asks something subtler of us.

Not stealing from the body by forcing or rushing.
Not stealing from the breath by holding it tight.
Not stealing from ourselves - or others - through comparison, expectation, or self-judgement.

Asteya invites us into honesty and enoughness.
To meet the practice as it is.
To let this moment be sufficient.

You’re warmly welcome to practise with us this week:

✨ Tuesday 9:30am - Gentle Hatha
✨ Wednesday 8.30am Yin Yoga
✨ Wednesday 6:00pm - Restorative
✨ Friday 8.00am Strong and Slow
✨ Friday 9:30am - Somatic Yoga
✨ Saturday 8:00am - Foundations

And a little seasonal note -
Our Autumn Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra Immersion has opened up a few more places as we’ve moved to the Parish Hall, allowing us to practise together witnessing the sun lowering and the light softening through the windows.

🌿 A slow, nourishing immersion aligned with autumn, breath, and letting go.

Satya - truth.

On the mat, truth is simple.
It’s the honest sensation of the body today - not yesterday, not the version we imagine we should be.
In the mind, it’s noticing the stories we tell and softening our grip on them.
In how we see others, it’s remembering we are only ever meeting a moment, never the whole story.

Practising Satya is an act of kindness.
Seeing clearly.
Listening closely.
Allowing what is to be enough.

You’re warmly welcome to practise with us this week:

✨ Tuesday 9:30am - Gentle Hatha
✨ Wednesday 8.30am - Yin Yoga
✨ Wednesday 6:00pm - Restorative
✨ Friday 8.00am - Hatha Yoga
✨ Friday 9:30am - Somatic Yoga
✨ Saturday 8:00am - Hatha Yoga

Come as you are.
Truth meets you there.

For those of you who have visited our humble home for workshops and classes, you will no doubt remember our beautiful oak tree. She has been a guardian to this land and nesting home for many birds and animals for over 100 years.
After the many storms and recent strong winds, her main bough /limb has completely split. After consultation with our Tree Surgeon, we have been advised there is no alternative but removal. We will mulch the timber and keep it on the property - ‘all that remains’.
We are praying that the main tree is still healthy and will do everything we can to save her.
Please hold this beautiful tree in your thoughts, especially if you have enjoyed her company over the years.

Thank you

🙏🏼🌳

This week at Yoga Brave, we begin a gentle exploration of the Yamas and Niyamas - the ethical heart of yoga - starting with Ahimsa, the practice of non-violence.

Ahimsa invites us to soften our inner language, to move with care, and to meet ourselves exactly as we are. On the mat, this might look like listening more closely, resting when needed, or choosing presence over performance.

Here’s how we’ll be moving and resting together this week:

• Tuesday 9.30am - Gentle Hatha with Angelique
• Wednesday 8.30am - Yin Yoga with Kylie
• Wednesday 6.00pm - Restorative Yoga with Fyona
• Friday 8.00am - Hatha with Fyona
• Friday 9.30am - Bliss Out with Fyona
• Saturday 8.00am - Hatha with Kylie

Each class offers a different doorway into practice - strength, stillness, restoration. All held within the same invitation: to move kindly, breathe fully, and honour your own rhythm.

We’d love to welcome you on the mat this week 🤍
Bookings via your Momoyoga app or our link in bio.

I would highly recommended this local retreat with Ginny - if I was available I would definitely be there! 🙏🏼

Meet the Teaching Team of Yoga Brave

Yoga Brave is held by three women who care deeply about people, presence and practice.

Kylie Rose, Angelique Pratten and Fyona Coulton come together with over 30 years of combined teaching experience and a very generous 150+ years of life experience between us - gathered through curiosity, challenge, change and a few good plot twists along the way.

Each of us brings a different rhythm, voice and way of holding space, yet we are united by a shared devotion to yoga as a tool for steadiness, resilience and connection.

We didn’t come together to build something big.
We came together to care well.

To offer practices that are thoughtful, accessible and grounded in real life.
To meet our community where they are - in strength, in tenderness, in transition.
To create spaces where people feel supported, seen and welcome exactly as they are.

Yoga Brave is not just a timetable of classes.
It is a living, breathing community shaped by experience, listening and heart.

We are grateful to walk this path together, and to practise alongside you.

Fy, Ange and Kylie 🙌

Yesterday, our website vanished

At first - a tightening. A quick flicker of dread.
And then… the remembering.

✨ Aparigraha ✨Non-attachment.

The soft release of what we thought we needed.
I noticed how much energy had been spent waiting for this moment to drop - how much space it had quietly occupied. When it finally did, the veils of Maya fell one by one, revealing something unexpectedly simple and clear.

What if I didn’t have a website?
What if less was actually more?
From curiosity came spaciousness.
From spaciousness, opportunity.
From there - a new way forward 🌾

Our yoga community is growing, and it’s a joy to feel the rooms filling with steady, committed practice.

With increased numbers, we’ll be holding some classes at the Parish Hall, simply to ensure everyone has enough space to move, breathe and practise comfortably. The teaching, pace and intention of our classes remain unchanged - just a little more room to land.

We’re also welcoming two new offerings into the schedule:

✨ Beginners Yoga – Foundations (4-week course)
For those who are complete beginners to yoga, or returning after time away. This course offers a clear, supportive introduction to foundational postures, breath awareness and simple practices you can carry into everyday life.
Bookings via Momoyoga:

✨ Hatha Yoga – Slow and Strong
Starting this Friday at 8:00am at Organic Feast, this class blends traditional Hatha yoga with pranayama to build strength, steadiness and resilience - supporting both body and nervous system.
Book here:

Our regular classes continue to run beautifully, with Angelique and Kylie offering thoughtful, consistent guidance and setting the tone for a grounded year of mindful practice.

Thank you for being part of this growing community 🤍
