Day two of began with a landmark change for ADHD care in Queensland.
From 1 December, specialist GPs will be able to initiate, adjust and continue prescriptions for ADHD medicines for adults – a first for Australia.
This reform marks a major step forward in recognising GPs’ expertise in safely managing chronic and complex conditions. It will improve timely and affordable access to care, reduce specialist wait times, and bring ADHD treatment closer to home – particularly for people in regional and remote areas.
We'd like to thank the Queensland Government and Health Minister Tim Nicholls for working with the College to bring about this important, evidence-based reform that reflects the essential role GPs play in providing ongoing, coordinated care for everyone in Australia, regardless of their postcode.
