Nominations for the 2026 RACGP Awards are now open! Today we shine a light on A/Prof Frank Jones – a GP whose nearly 45-year career is a masterclass in what dedication to general practice looks like.
From the Royal Flying Doctor Service to procedural obstetrics, and 40 years at Murray Medical Centre in Mandurah, A/Prof Jones has never stopped giving. He has also shaped the next generation of GPs as an examiner, supervisor and senior clinical lecturer at the University of Western Australia Medical School.
When he received the 2025 Rose Hunt Award, it wasn't something he sought. It was something he earned, quietly, over a lifetime.
'I was incredibly privileged and humbled,' he says. 'One cannot ask for more than recognition by your peers – and this, just for doing a job I love.'
If you know someone like A/Prof Jones – someone whose contribution deserves to be recognised – his message is clear: 'A recognition of skills and quality GP care by one's peers is something very special.'
Awards nominations close 9.00 am (AEST) Monday 1 June.
