๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ, recognised on 4 March, brings people together across the globe to raise awareness and inspire action on obesity and its impacts on longโterm health.
Maintaining a healthy weight isnโt just important for personal wellbeing and longevity - it also supports a safer, healthier, and more productive workplace. Excess weight increases the risk of obesityโrelated conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers, all of which can affect daily energy levels, physical capacity and overall work performance and absenteeism.
Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight can:
๐ Improve daily quality of life โ boosting energy, supporting focus, and improving overall comfort at work.
๐ Reduce the risk of health conditions that can impact attendance, recovery time and longโterm wellbeing.
๐ Make managing chronic conditions easier, helping employees stay safer and more capable at work.
๐ Support better mental health โ as excess weight can contribute to low self-esteem, depression and anxiety.
๐ Increase life expectancy โ people with a BMI of 30โ35 may lose 2โ4 years of life, while those with a BMI of 40โ45 may lose 8โ10 years, compared with individuals in a healthy weight range.
At WFR, weโre committed to supporting healthier workplaces through practical, evidenceโbased wellbeing services. Our programs are designed to encourage sustainable lifestyle changes - empowering individuals and teams to make positive choices that support physical, mental, and occupational health.
