Time to re-introduce one of our Senior Clinical Psychologists, Jenni!

Jennifer is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience in private practice settings. She has experience in treating a broad range of mental health difficulties across the lifespan including trauma, psychosis, as well as anxiety and mood disorders.

Jennifer has a particular interest in couples therapy, and is a certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist. Jennifer has a warm and good-humoured approach to the challenges of being human, and works in a collaborative and caring way to find the solutions that will work for you. Jennifer’s treatment approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, and she will work with you to create a tailored approach specific to your needs and preferences.

Jennifer is also a Board Approved Supervisor and seeks to provide a supportive, reflective learning environment for reviewing practice and enhancing skills. She is available for general supervision, couples therapy supervision, and for registrars pursuing endorsement in clinical psychology.

While there is a little bit of a wait to get in with Jenni, she does accept a small number of new clients regularly. We are so lucky to have Jenni on Eight Mile Plains team!

My Psych Clinic Toowong opened in late 2025 as a sister practice to our flagship Eight Mile Plains location. Our smaller size allows our team to collaborate closely, fostering a high level of practitioner support and dedicated client care while continuing the trusted reputation we have built at our larger clinic.

Our Toowong practice provides a wide spectrum of tailored support, ranging from individual therapy for trauma, anxiety, and depression, to individualised neuro-affirming care for clients aged 10 years and up.

As our practice grows, we have recently expanded our team to ensure we can continue providing prompt appointments with minimal wait times.

To learn more about Ella or the wider team, feel free to visit our website mypsychclinic.com.au or call 07 3349 5511 to book.

We commonly get asked whether clients can use their MHCP or other referral to get a rebate on Cognitive Assessments. The answer is typically no, however, there are a few exceptions, including:

👉An individual with a Complex Neurodevelopmental Condition who is under 25 years of age can be referred by an approved medical practitioner (such as a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist) for allied health assessments. This help diagnose conditions like Autism, allowing you to receive a Medicare rebate that covers some of the cost.

👉 Clients with existing NDIS packages can sometimes be eligible to use their plan for a cognitive assessment if it aligns with their goals.

For the majority of our clients who pay for assessments privately, we offer flexible payment plans to help split the cost over a few weeks.

Reach out to our admin team if you have any questions about whether you may be eligible for a rebate - 07 3349 5511

We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of our Toowong team, Ella Gilmour!

Ella is a warm, person-centred psychologist who is passionate about supporting and empowering individuals across all stages of life. She takes a relaxed, collaborative, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach, valuing the input of clients as the experts in their own experiences and striving to meet people where they are at with curiosity, respect, and genuineness. Her hope is that clients leave sessions feeling valued, understood, and equipped with the insight and practical skills to navigate life in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Ella draws from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Schema-informed Therapy to tailor support to each individual’s needs and goals.

Ella particularly enjoys working with autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent adolescents and adults, and aims to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can show up as their authentic selves. Other areas of treatment include:

• Anxiety/phobias
• Depression
• Stress management
• Self-Esteem and confidence
• Perfectionism
• Emotional regulation and coping skills
• Social skills building
• Relationship challenges
• Addiction

Ella has availability to see new clients aged 10+ from 7th April on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays including outside of school hours appointments. We are so proud to have Ella join our small but mighty Toowong team!

Last week, March 16-20, was Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

And while we know we are a little late to the party, we wanted to take the week to reflect on what we actually do as a practice to provide a neuro-affirming space for our clients.

👉 We recognise the value of neurodiverse voices and lived experience

👉 We celebrate the strengths of our neurodivergent clients and team members, while holding space for the unique challenges they experience

👉 We are committed to providing appropriate accommodations and sensory supports for neurodivergent clients and team members – one of our own amazing psychologists is in the process of developing an accommodations checklist for new clients which we will be rolling out in the next few months

👉 We are a neuroaffirming-led team with both our clinical team leads at both locations practicing in this space and informing policy and change practice-wide

👉 We have a number of clinicians who work using a neuroaffirming framework and we are proud to announce we have just hired another!

We recognise that being neuro-affirming is a constant process of evolving and learning. What would you like to see us do next to better support our neurodivergent clients?
