🪑 Ever feel tired after sitting all day, even though you haven’t moved much?

You’d think sitting would be restful, but it’s actually more compressive on the body than we realise. When we sit for long periods, the body shifts into a flexed position — the hips, knees, and spine are bent, which changes how our weight and tension are distributed.

Instead of energy flowing efficiently through our body (like it does when we’re standing and our structure is stacked correctly), that compression gets pushed into the spine. This can:

👉 Shrink the diaphragm and restrict breathing 🌬️
👉 Decrease oxygen intake and circulation
👉 Put extra pressure on the nervous system
👉 Lead to fatigue & sluggishness

And let’s be honest, most of us don’t sit perfectly upright. The slouching and collapsing that happens over hours at a desk changes our posture and breathing mechanics even more, making the body work harder to maintain balance and oxygenation.

So when you’re feeling drained at your desk, it’s not just mental fatigue, it’s your nervous system running on empty.
